A new book on the New England Patriots has gone into great detail about the fractured relationship between Robert Kraft, Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick. Kraft reportedly disparaged his coach and even called him an 'idiot savant', while Brady apparently thought Belichick’s methods were quote 'antiquated, even silly.' Hear Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe's biggest takeaway's from the tell-all book.

Brady never wanted special treatment. He just wanted to be appreciated by the coach that he played with for 20 years. It’s honestly very sad. 😞
@DuckFanDane
@DuckFanDane 2 жыл бұрын
He did want special treatment and it’s not sad it’s business. He treated every player like that so him saying he appreciated Brady which led to be honest he has done in his own way multiple times over would be special treatment if he went out of character and talked all lovingly and appreciative about him because he doesn’t do that with his players. So yes it would be special treatment because he’s not that way now you can say that sad bud that’s the reason why he gets the best out of his players is because he is cold and calculating when it comes to that

1. Bill Belichick is 62-74 (45.6%) in the regular season as a head coach without Tom Brady and 219-64 (77.4%) with Tom Brady 2. Bill Belichick is 1-1 (50.0%) in the playoffs as a head coach without Tom Brady and is 30-11(73.2%) in the playoffs with Tom Brady 3. Bernie Kosar, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Matt Cassell, Jimmy Garroppolo, and Cam Newton have a *COMBINED* 11 Pro Bowl selections, 16 playoff appearances, 6 conference championship game appearances, and 3 Super Bowl appearances with 8 different head coaches in their careers. Those same 6 quarterbacks have made a *TOTAL* of 0 Pro Bowls, 1 playoff appearance, and 0 conference championship game appearances with Belichick as their head coach 4. Belichick has 8 full seasons as a head coach without Brady under his belt. In those 8 seasons without Brady, he has failed to make the playoffs 7 times with 6 losing seasons 5. Belichick was fired from the Cleveland Browns prior to the 1996 NFL season. The Browns were then promptly relocated to Baltimore where they won a Super Bowl in the 2000 season 6. Belichick was hired as the Browns head coach prior to the 1991 NFL season. The Browns played in the AFC Championship game in 1986, 1987, and 1989 7. Belichick is 26-30 (46.4%) as head coach of the Patriots without Tom Brady. He saw an *IMMEDIATE* 6 win increase and Super Bowl win as soon as Brady became starter in 2001 and saw an *IMMEDIATE* 5 win dropoff and playoff miss when Brady missed an entire season in 2008. Then he saw another *IMMEDIATE* 5 win dropoff once Tom Brady left for the Buccaneers in 2020 8. The 2008 Patriots scored 179 fewer points (11.2 PPG) than their 2007 counterparts and Matt Cassell threw for 1,113 fewer yards, 29 fewer touchdowns, 4 more interceptions, and had a 27.8 decrease in passer rating from Tom Brady in 2007 with the only subtractions from the team being Asante Samuel and Tom Brady. The 2008 Patriots also had the 5th easiest SOS and were 2-4 against playoff teams while still missing the playoffs. The 2007 Patriots had the 8th hardest SOS while being 6-0 against playoff teams in the regular season 9. Drew Bledsoe made the Pro Bowl with 3 different head coaches, but couldn't with Belichick. Drew Bledsoe also threw for 3,691 yards in 18 games with Belichick, but the moment he goes to Buffalo, he throws for 4,354 yards while posting a better record (being a win away from making the playoffs) and making the Pro Bowl 10. Pete Carroll took the Patriots under Drew Bledsoe to the playoffs twice while Belichick could not do it in his season with Bledsoe. In his 3 seasons as the Patriots head coach, Pete Carroll went 27-21 with 2 playoff appearances and 0 losing seasons 11. In his 6 years as a head coach before 2001, Bill Belichick had never had a top 10 ranked scoring offense. The Patriots offense ranked 25th in 2000 with Drew Bledsoe at quarterback. In 2001, Tom Brady's first year as a starter, the Patriots ranked 6th in scoring offense 12. Drew Bledsoe has had 10 career 40+ point games in his career, with 3 different teams and 3 different head coaches. His highest point total under Bill Belichick was 30 points which was achieved just once in 18 games 13. Drew Bledsoe's worst career record of 5-11 was achieved with Bill Belichick as head coach. Bledsoe has produced a better record with every other head coach and team he's ever played for, including the Buffalo Bills 14. Vinny Testaverde's best season under Bill Belichick was in 1995 when he threw for 2,887 yards and 17 touchdowns. The very next season Bill Belichick was fired and Testaverde threw for 4,177 yards and 33 touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl under interim head coach Ted Marchibroda. Testaverde now sits at #15 all time in passing yards and #16 all time in passing touchdowns. He has 7 seasons that are better than his best season with Belichick 15. The Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis from 2000-2004, produced 3 top 10 scoring offenses in 4 seasons with Brady as his starting quarterback. Without Brady, he has only produced 1 top 10 scoring offense in 5 seasons 16. Josh McDaniels who was the Patriots offensive coordinator from 2006-2008, and then from 2012-2019, has had a top 10 scoring offense every single year Brady has been his starting quarterback. McDaniels left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010. In those two seasons, his scoring offense ranked 20th and 19th respectively. McDaniels was then fired and became the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2011 where his scoring offense ranked 32nd among teams 17. Bill O'Brien became the Patriots offensive coordinator in 2011 where he had the #3 scoring offense in the league. He then went on to be the head coach of the Houston Texans, where, in 6 seasons with the team, he still hasn't produced 1 top 10 scoring offense, even with players like Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins 18. Before Tom Brady, Bill Belichick had never coached a team with either 4,000 passing yards or 30 passing touchdowns in a season. In fact, he didn't do it when Tom Brady missed an entire season in 2008 or in 2020 after Brady left via free agent one year following Tom Brady throwing for over 4,000 yards at 42 years old 19. Bill Belichick fully expected to be fired in the 2001 season before the Drew Bledsoe injury. According to Charlie Weis, Belichick called him on the phone and told him to put his house up for sale because he didn't think they were going to last too much longer. According to a Jets coach, in week 2 Belichick and Charlie Weis were talking to them before the game and were saying "We're going to get fired". The Jets coach then detailed how Belichick told them how they didn't want Bledsoe, but he was a big locker room presence 20. Bill Belichick had 3 quarterbacks to start under him that were drafted 1st overall in their respective drafts. Bill Belichick has gone 16-15 with Vinny Testaverde (drafted 1st overall in 1987 NFL draft), 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe (drafted 1st overall in 1993 NFL draft), and 7-8 with Cam Newton (drafted 1st overall in 2011 NFL draft) for a COMBINED record of 28 -36 (43.8%) with 1st overall draft picks at quarterback 21. Bill Belichick has gone 14-21 (40.0%) with quarterbacks that have gone on to make the Super Bowl with another head coach. Bill Belichick has gone 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe who made the Super Bowl in 1996 with Bill Parcels as head coach, 2-0 with Jimmy Garroppolo who made the Super Bowl in 2019 with Kyle Shanahan as head coach, and 7-8 with Cam Newton, who made the Super Bowl in 2015 with Ron Rivera as head coach. 22. In 2016, when Tom Brady missed 4 games due to suspension, the Patriots went 3-1 with Jimmy Garroppolo and then Jacoby Brissett at quarterbacks. In those 4 games, the Patriots played 2 games against teams who finished the season with losing records, 3 games at home, and they were shut out 16-0 to a Buffalo Bills team at home whom Brady put up 41 points against 4 weeks later on the road. The best team the Patriots played in those 4 games were the Houston Texans, who had 16 touchdowns to 17 interceptions on the season and had the same number of fumbles lost as rushing touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett threw a grand total of 0 touchdown passes in 10 quarters played during that 4 game stretch 23. Art Modell is 305-253-8 (54.7%), with 18 playoff appearances, 8 conference championship game appearances, a NFL championship (1964), and a Super Bowl championship (2000) as a NFL owner in games Bill Belichick was not his head coach. In games Bill Belichick was his head coach, Art Modell is 36-44 (45.0%) with 1 playoff appearance and 0 conference championship game appearances 24. Robert Kraft was 54-42 (56.3%), with 4 playoff appearances, 1 conference championship game appearance, and 1 Super Bowl appearance in 6 seasons as a NFL owner from 1994-1999 (bought the team in 1994) without Bill Belichick as his head coach. Robert Kraft is 26-30 (46.4%) with 0 playoff appearances in 3 FULL seasons with a Bradyless Bill Belichick as his head coach

Exactly Shannon! It is a business, that being said, just like any business I’ve experienced, if an employee leaves after a couple years, they will be thanked for their time and work, BUT I’ve noticed, the people who spent literally decades, once they leave they get a bigger better farewell and it’s just what they deserve for what they’ve done. That being said, Tom should’ve been treated differently when he left, and let’s be honest, Bill thought Tom had nothing left. I was a die hard pats fan, but after what they did, and everything, I’m no longer a big pats fan as I once was, from 2000-2020. Have been my fav pats/team. Just like Tom, I’m moving on.

It's not just Shannon. Really I think it has alot to do with his trade and success as a buc. There has been so much controversy and general disdain for the Patriots dynasty that just the team switch gave Tom a pr boost if you will, on top of turning a losing team into a SB champion proving that Tom was more then just a system qb...freeing Brady from under bb's thumb also gave fans a glimpse of Tom's outstanding personality. Long time rival fans could actually lift the "the evil empire" facade and see Tom was far from the Darth Vader of football rather Bill being closer to the Emperor and pulling most strings...I think it's a bit of a wake up call to most NFL fans, Tom Brady truelly is the greatest qb to breathe, after Tom became a buc it's pretty obvious that the pats owed a large portion of there success to Tom

Be like working for the Army. Bill even treats his players like them. Refusing to treat people differently. Army officers can be quite cold at times too. Distancing themselves from everyone not of rank. To keep authority over them. Most players buy In to his work ethic too and very complain. James Harrison spoke about his time and he enjoyed it. Judon has said he loves it. The no fun a load of bs. You work hard, you're prepared to or not. It's not much different from other clubs. Bill just works people a bit harder on fitness and gameplanning.

Belichick isnt as condescending as he is now when he was just a dc in ny, or a hc with the browns. He was all smiles unless they lost and always welcoming all questions. His ego became so big as success came. He’s a good defensive coach and he always had an eye to good defensive plAyers. He cant accept that he’s a swing and miss when it comes to skill players. To his credit, that got him Brady in check all the way to his 19th yr.

Robert Kraft is 26-30 (46.4%) with 0 playoff appearances in 3 FULL seasons with a Bradyless Bill Belichick as his head coach

its not exactly ego. he is a genius. plain and simple. that is a lonely thing to be among thousands and thousands of idiots in the nfl and in the patriots organization. eventually he had to accept that about himself and that other people dont even have the wit to understand how much smarter than them he is. he had to decide to stop trying to please other people completely.

@@enhanced6892 The word genius had been thrown around so casually nowaday to underserved people. Eric Mangini was once called a genius because he had a couple successful seasons. Sean McVay was called a genius because he too had a couple successful seasons. After Mangini stop winning, he was run out of the league and couldn't get another coaching job. No longer a genius. BB is called a genius because he won. But the question is is it him or Brady? If he is such a genius then why he couldn't win anything without Brady? Why is he looking at another losing season and miss the playoff even after spending the most money in free agency in a single offseason in NFL's history? From the day Brady left the Pats, BB will have a hard time making the playoff let alone a perennial Superbowl contender. BB is a fake. He is getting exposed. Maybe he kept hearing people like you saying how great and such a genius he is (when he is neither) he started to believe it and want to show the world that it was him alone responsible for the dynasty. As a result, he is getting exposed.

@@sportsavant2937 you are somewhat correct. however its doesnt matter how smart you are when you're dealing with as many moving parts as there are in the nfl. bad owners repeatedly ruin any hope of their employees succeeding. bill however is indeed a genius. without kraft and brady to facilitate the execution of his ideals, yes he would have joined a long line of geniuses with nothing to show. and if brady was drafted by detroit, he wouldnt now be considered the greatest anything.

He might b a Starter for 4 or 5 more years ,Brady will b a Starter up until Next year until age 45 .I think Tampa Bay goes to the Playoffs has Success and Pats miss the playoffs again and Maybe Bill retires n a few Years after losing seasons .I Hope Brady goes out on a Super Bowl or MVP Season ,Super Bowl MVP or at least NFC Championship Game with Playing really well.Brady is on Pace for over 650 TD ,Over 87,000 Yards ,Over at least 255 Regular season Wins 78 losses for His career. He is 34-11 n the playoffs and If the next 2 seasons lets say wins 1 loses 1 and won a Super Bowl 3-0 38-12 B unreal .Even If He made it to another NFC Championship Game with a Buy 1 year going 2-1 and went 1-1 and went 37-13 Pretty damn Good .Most Playoff Wins next to Brady is Joe Montana with 16 Brady has 34 and I Hope He wins 2 More Super Bowls .

@@vincem3393 How does a coach help mold somebody? Brady was given talent a coach can't give. Brady was taught how to read defenses and play at an NFL level but the talent and his wisdom was with him before Bill was involved. Brady was gifted talents a coach can't teach.

How does losing the GOAT make you a good coach. Belichek and Kraft are both a**holes. Kraft won’t be stacking up anymore Lombardys. Without Tom-Pats are going to lose.

I’m a fan of the show but sometimes it borders on media malpractice when every third-hand anonymous quote is taken as gospel by Skip and Shannon because it’s something to talk about. It’s at LEAST worth mentioning that some of this may not be true. No primary sources were used. It’s like the Aaron Rodgers “don’t be the problem” exchange that was anonymously sourced. This show quoted that daily for the entire summer. Then two weeks ago it comes out that it was totally made up and never happened. Not a peep from either one of these guys. I know it’s an entertainment show but Skip’s been an actual journalist since covering the 1919 World Series at 10 years old. He should know better.

@@joserivas8439 Libel laws prevent this. Brand equity is a real thing. You cannot just LIE your way to a book. You know why? ONE Libel suit and all your SOURCES have to be disclosed to a prosecutor. Learn some law first. Cristiano Ronaldo won a libel suit for lies that were written in a London Newspaper about him drinking alcohol when he doesn't drink, ever. He won the suit. Libel and Defamation are laws for a reason. This book is almost certainly factual.

The Aaron Rodgers quote was not written in a book that could potentially make millions FROM THAT lie. Please, learn some law before sounding foolish. If that Rodgers quote was put in a book that made a ton of money, and it was later discovered to be a lie, that publisher will be sued for thousands or millions on damages and all his sources will have to be disclosed to a prosecutor. A tweet is not generating income. A book does. Big difference. There is no way Rodgers reads a book that a quote that never occured without his lawyers suing for defamation/libel. You're just in denial. You guys think he left NE for "more weapons" when Belichick clearly kicked him out and didn't want him anymore 😂😂😂.
