I think people are coming at Bill Bellicheck for the wrong reasons. You can criticize him as a GM. He hasn't secured that much good talent since Brady's departure. However I think as a coach Bill Bellicheck is one of the best coaches at teaching talent specifically on the defensive side of the ball. The problem is now that Mac Jones production has simply fallen off a cliff and Bill O Brian has gotten a lil too predictable with his playcalling.

Bill used to have a really good selection of assistant coaches and coordinators as well (I can't help but notice their offense fell off a cliff once Dante Scarnecchia retired), but was kind of discredited when none of his coordinators have gone on to notable success as head coaches. Bill probably could remake that team into a contender if people were willing to give him 3-4 seasons. It would probably be better to bring in a young GM to help better evaluate draft talent - which would entail a multi-season rebuild as well. Problem is the legacy of success: When people become accustomed to winning, asking them to stay while a new version of this team is built tends to be poorly received.

This is the sentiment who hasn't watched the Patriots week in and week out in a number of years. They have been among the worst coached teams the past 2-3 years. Poor technique, turnovers, penalties, bad special teams, mental mistakes, bad in key situational moments. I could go on and on but I don't know why people still think he's coaching well and its just the roster talent. It's everything.

I saw coach Bellicheck a few weeks ago talk about Tom Brady and he said in no uncertain terms that one of tb’ most unique attributes is is that he could absorb everything you threw at him, he absolutely absorbed enormous amounts of information, he said very few can do that. It made me think of the line about , “ you don’t really appreciate what you have until it’s gone “. The entire coaching staff of the Patriots organization not only believed they could have done what they did with Brady with just about any qb. Right after Tom left, several said exactly that in interviews , I thought, you are going to eat those words.

@@albertcamus5970 I was just saying that I believed that BB in the end of the Brady era he didn’t truly appreciate how special he was. Clearly an untrue assessment.
@albertcamus5970
@albertcamus5970 8 ай бұрын
@@jerkyturkey007 No offense but I think you are misremembering things because of the frequent media narrative that Brady was a system QB. BB never felt that and gave credit to him on numerous occasions. Go ahead and try to find some quotes about any members of the coaching staff saying that. I think you won't actually find any. This is why Brady doesn't go after BB even when he could. If BB thought he was a scrub and ran him out of town he would take a different attitude. BB knew the cupboard was bare and was okay with letting him go because of this. BB did Brady a huge favor because now the narrative has totally shifted. Now they think all of BBs success is because of Brady. Which is a total oversimplification and lie. The defense which was incredibly good was all BB and always has been.

Two things can be true at once. The Patriots and Brady were really lucky and they were top tier excellent teams. I don’t believe they were as good as their accomplishments, but they took advantage of every opportunity they could.

Do we mention the loss of Josh McDaniels too? Or Ernie Adams? Dante Scarnecchia? Mike Flores etc? They've lost a gargantuan amount of experience, chemistry beyond Brady and yet people just think it's Brady

The Lennon McCartney of football. Tom got a solo hit after the breakup, but there's no logic in attributing all their success to him just because of that. It was a one in a million situation.

on the topic of Brady I'd like to bring up Joe Thuney, a guy who started in 3 superbowls his first 3 years, retired, then came back and won another ring with another great QB. Dawg.

I love how people take a dump on Bill Belichick. As a coach of various flavors Bill Belichick has won like 45 playoff games. That is more than any NFL franchise has ever won.

I’m suprised at how bad bill o Brian play calling is. Alabama was clearly being carried by talent and Bryce young. Pats should tank for a new QB that’s the meta strategy in the nfl

I don't think it's fair for Belichick to brush performance questions aside. It's not supposed to be comfortable when you're not winning as a coach and there should be some accountability.

Belichick was never more than an average coach. Brady took an average coach and elevated him into the GOAT conversation. When Belichick gets his Gold Jacket, it will be undeserved and in his heart he knows this. He presided over a 20 year dynasty because of two decisions. 1st to draft Brady and 2nd to elevate Brady to back-up. He couldn't win with pro-bowl QB Bledsoe. All the same players, all the same coaches. Brady steps on the field and instantly everything changes. At best Belichick can be credited with not screwing up a good thing. Maybe that is enough to earn a Gold Jacket. Why did Matt Castle perform so well in Brady’s absence? What is completely misunderstood is that Brady’s influence on the team transcended his play on the field. Brady’s off-field influence lifted the entire team. What Matt Castle inherited was that Brady influenced team.

For those who say Bill is a bad GM - McCourty, Hightower, Jamie Collin’s, Butler, a litany of rbs, gronkowski, Edelman, gostkowski, flowers, Asante Samuel, Ben Watson, Hernandez(😳), Chandler Jones, Mankins, Light, Wilfork, Seymour, Andrews, the list goes on, and don’t forget Brady lol. Now recently yes it’s been rough. Really rough. Really really rough. And he’s never really drafted good receivers but let’s put things into perspective here.
