FYI at :07 the fans chanting "Oh, wie ist das schön" which they use to sing in soccer when their home team wins (by a large margin). It roughly translates into this: "Oh how beautiful [maybe "nice" would be a more accurate translation in English, but "schön" literally means "beautiful"], oh how beautiful, you didn't see something like that for a long time, oh how beautiful" This was such a cool move. The players wouldn't understand it, but this just shows how much football is now accepted as a part of our sports culture.

I think Germany is going to start having high school, college, and pro football sometime soon!
@Kessra2 жыл бұрын
Nah, our education system is different. While we have physical education here at schools, team sports are more a field of so called "Vereine" (clubs, unions, associations) which happens outside of schools and in private time. And here soccer is just way more popular. The biggest association in Germany is the DFB (German football/soccer association) and then there is nothing other that is even close to that. And Germany and Western/Central Europe already has dedicated national and European-wide leagues which mostly have young American players who didn't make the cut for college/NFL teams added on top to European players. Those "American imports" are considered pro-players, but the local ones are more like amateurs in that context though. Just look for Nick Alfieri (a.k.a. Nalf) i.e. here on YT. He is a U.S. football player currently playing for a German team and vlogging regularly about his adventures in Germany and Europe. He recently even released a movie about his experience as American living in Germany and playing American Football here
@stevenguild27072 жыл бұрын
@@Kessra I thought that those American Football leagues currently in Germany (e.g. GFL?) had restrictions in place that would limit the # of American players on any particular team. That way, local German homegrown talent is involved, and the sports is grown more broadly. In fact, I thought I read that a few of those GFL teams in smaller towns had quite a loyal local following.
@Kessra2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenguild2707 AFAIK European Football teams are limited on how many American players they are allowed to have at the same time on the pit, I'm not sure if there is a limit though for how many there may be in the team roaster in general. In recent years some European players made it even to the NFL, but still, players joining European teams are more or less considered sub-par players as the big money is for sure in the NFL which attracts the most talented ones. If you compare that to soccer the difference is apparent. Usually old-aged "stars" from European soccer clubs usually change to MLS teams for big money and draw public attention. It is like you send Brady now to a German team to promote his sport as much as possible and slowly but silently end his carer. But instead you mostly send Rookies to Europe who are mostly unknown to the American public as they didn't make the cut for U.S. teams in the hopes they improve a lot by playing there. Two very distinctive approaches in what players to send and how to promote the sports to the public.
@1helluvaguy7382 жыл бұрын
Okay. Right before Tom walks through, their announcer is talking about train delays. Why is that being done in English?
@stevenguild27072 жыл бұрын
Because the announcer wanted to be sure that Tom Brady knew that he was going to be late getting out of town and to the team plane 😂
@ppumpkin32822 жыл бұрын
Was in Europe over forty years ago. Most Europeans know the lyrics to Americans songs, even if they can't speak English. It's one of our most popular exports. Some of them learn English by learning lyrics. Also many wore American sports Jerseys even though they didn't know anything about the team they were wearing.
@horatz812 жыл бұрын
Bullshit! European NFL fans and the Germans in particular are known to be 100% informed about every detail! As for sports! But we don't do one thing! When we favor a team and it ends up being (each for us) the one our heart belongs to, then that decision is unconditional and made for life!!!!
