What's crazy is this is exactly how I play offense on Madden. Lots of check downs, and run plays to bring the defense in just to set up a bomb over top. I always try to get a mobile QB that can also throw on the run, just to have as many options open at all times. Been my strategy since forever, get as many small chunks as possible eat up the time, and take any opening but don't force anything. Tends to frustrate opponents and makes them get over aggressive with blitzing and covering the flats, leaving the deep field open. My goal every possession is to get at least in field goal range.

That’s the right way to play. That’s what made Brady so good is that 1. He rarely hurts himself by turning it over 2. He takes little 4-5 yard check downs all the time and like you said the defense gets annoyed with that easily especially in a video game. They get aggressive and boom you hit them with a big play. Football is honestly just who can make the least mistakes

Tip 5 is huge for me. I read the D and audible usually 2 routes. One for man and one for zone. Whatever D they play i have a route that i know will be open

Just being able to see everything quickly and making the right reads is paramount. Alot of players struggle passing the ball myself included. Ive been trying to get better at reading defenses pre snap the past few years and it can be tricky, then guys will press or base align or man align. Also there are many cover 3 formations that have two high safeties pre snap and even 1 or 2 cover 2 defenses with only 1 high safety, cover 2 invert I believe. Being able to keep up with the speed of the game and being aware and focused is always important just like IRL. Great video.

I felt like I somewhat have Pocket Presence, Pre Snap, Audibling, and Checkdowns. I just never was solid because understanding what exactly the defense is doing was never 100% for me, that helps me clear up how to be more efficient. I also relied on the run game if they generally were in Nickel formation. This video concisely helps me understand all the facets of the game in a way that helps me actually improve my game tremendously. Thank you

I almost always dink and dunk when i see the D in zone, except when its cover 2. I nearly always like to streak one or two of my outside receivers. Post snap if i read cover 2, i wait for the exact moment when the corner peels off the streak to play the flat, and lead my receiver to the sideline for an easy 15-20 yards before the safety arrives

I can't remember if it was Madden 16 or 17, but one of them had practices between games where they walked you through step by step how to read routes, coverages, everything. It was the most useful thing Madden has ever done.

Perhaps a 6th tip would be knowing your matchups. You already know what your receivers are capable of. You know who can torch coverage deep and you know who can catch the short passes and truck their way to a first down. Study the defensive starters and exploit the weaker parts of the defense. Call plays that create personnel mismatches or motion WR's or TE's over to be covered by linebackers.

A couple questions to help me decide if this game is worth it: 1. Can you challenge plays? -You can't in 22 2. Are all QB's mobile? - It seems like all QB's in 22 are good at running out of the pocket even if they are slow and don't do it in real life. 3. How fast does defense react? -In 22 their reaction time is terrible. Safeties will watch someone streak past them in the zone. Linebackers will stare at the QB scrambling and wait 15 yards to react. 4. Are there any injuries? - I've been playing 22 since release and have only ever seen two injuries. 5. Does the hit stick feel like a hit stick. - In 22 the hit stick feels soft and unstatisfying.

For me the hardest thing is how to differentiate cover 1 man from cover 3 zone because they look alike. I know I can always send a receiver in motion but I hate doing that because I’m giving my play away. Also, it’s difficult when you’re in a bunch set because the defense is bunched in at the line of scrimmage. I prefer to run a spread offense because of this.

One thing I'd like to add... if a deep safety is "capping" a slot corner (that is, lined up off the line but directly over the same receiver that slot is on), that slot corner is probably coming.

You got to do the same thing on defense. I have tips on how to play all styles of dbs written in a reddit that helped a alot of people out for first timers. I’ve played offense so much and db to where 6/10 times i can tell when it’s a run play, slot, fade or streak. Most of the time 3rd option receivers are told to do curl or stop routes, comebacks so yeah

I agree with everything you said and you made great tips about reading coverages and smart decision making. However the problem is it's Madden and people live or die by the same zero blitz and can cover everyone manned up in press all over the field with one player. I've also seen multiple plays two safeties deep and it be cover 3. Every coverage in the game gets beat by the same streak and purples don't even work, players are constantly open on the sideline even when you know it's coming. When you expose players running one play they just quit and it's the same song and dance every game.

I started off playing defense in madden so what brady says about knowing the safeties is correct. Whenever o play receiver i can tell most of the time what they’re running on defense. If the safeties are closer then like he said a blutz is coming, if the corners are backed up, zone, 4 quarters or cover 2 zone. If the dbs are pressed then cover 2 man. Knowing this allows me to know where to head to on the filed as a receiver.

most defenses will give the 2-high safety look and that could be C4 C3 C2 or C1 robber or even FS blitz. so actually you can’t really rely on presnap reads in madden you gotta snap the ball and then figure out what’s happening

Reading a defense isn’t entirely possible anymore (in real life) sooo many defenses disguise cover 2’s into cover 3’s etc. You can audible to gameplan for what you see, but you won’t really know their true coverage until you hike the ball.

While I know this is great for content on the channel.. it’s just bugging as we all know madden is often absent of real life physics due to the scripting and animations that are more of lottery or having so much knowledge and experience that you know how to trigger things in your favor, pending skill level. The are excellent tips but madden can be broken at times where things like a player not looking back at the ball on defense doesn’t mean you can’t press triangle and trigger a catch animation and alter a game. The offensive line can all together forget blocks right in front of their face. Or just a pass that goes throw a player and to the defender. Even if they adding a touch of realism where if a player ran 3-4 offensive plays all game, the AI should start adjusting and being in places to shut down the plays instead of having to adjust players according. Just these small things that add up to hurt immersion and throw out the need to play like real life counterpart.

My guy, cause he's played for over 20 years lol. Of course over that long of a career your total sack numbers will add up. It's about how much he gets sacked per pass attempt. He has the 9th lowest sack rate for a QB in NFL history. Meaning he doesn't get sacked a lot relative to the amount of pass attempts he has.
