Shane, you absolutely break this mother's heart. My heart literally ACHED for you after watching Bridegroom. I am haunted by it. I still can't get over your loss of Tom. I have no words to describe that even happening. It's unreal. I don't know how you got through it other than to say you are one of the strongest people I've ever come across. Every time I think of it, which is often, I just shake my head and say, literally, with tears in my eyes, God love him, God love him, Lord, please love him, meaning both you and Tom. My heart goes out to you. Your GLAAD speech made me cry. I could tell you were nervous but also still heartbroken over Tom. I, too, had a lump in my throat while watching your speech. I just cannot make sense as to WHY this happened to you other than as a catapult to where you are today. I'm SO HAPPY for you that you now have Rayvon. I thank God for that. After watching Bridegroom for the first time about a month ago, I've been reading everything I can find online trying to catch up to where you are today. I'm so happy you're happy now :) As a mother to a gay son, I just feel such a connection to you. I know I don't know you and have never met you but I love you as one of my own. I wish only the most iridescent happiness for you for the rest of your life! (I do hope you read our comments and they don't just end up in the ether out there somewhere.)

I watched Bridegroom for the first time last night, I cried so hard, it really moved me and affect me in so many ways. The love you guys had was incredible and i am so sorry for your loss. Shane, I find your unyielding love for your partner Tom simply inspiring. I have been with my partner for over 6 years and am struggling with his cancer and heart diseases. Thank you for sharing Tom with us. I had a partner for 9 very short years and lost him suddenly. We also did not have wills and I was not allowed to carry out his final wishes. Shane, love does not end with death; love transcends death. Memories connect us to those we have loved and lost. Tom is with you! In the quiet times, when your alone, a memory, an unexpected--but much needed dream, a song, a smell, reconnect you with him. He's unable to physically 'touch' you now to remind you he's there, but these experiences, these memories, dreams, songs, smells are his way of reaching out to you. I still remember him, my first love. back in high school, we have been so in love and reckless that time, like he plus me we are the whole world, nothing bothers us and nothing can separate us. Our love is all we have and all we wanted. Until one day, one drunk diver on the road and hit him and took him away from me forever, my whole world collapsed since that day and that day is my birthday, he left me alone with this meaningless world. Shane you are amazing... Tom would be so proud of you... I couldn't imagine the pain and hurt you felt losing Tom... And his family not even acknowledging you as a part of Tom's life... His family will have to one day answer for their actions and for the way they treated you and I know Tom would not have wanted them to behave the way they did...i just saw the Bridegroom documentary and it was just so heartbreaking... Losing Tom and then being shunned as if you never existed had to have been the worst pain you could have felt... Shane I didn't know about your and Tom's story. The person who drew my attention to you is Dan, from Mr Max TV, the incredibly popular story about himself and a cockatoo called Max! I mention him because he has actually met you at a talk you gave some time ago, and between you you have helped me FEEL again and let go of all those bottled up emotions I've suppressed since childhood. I have always felt empathy for ANY kind of oppression. I don't understand how anyone can condemn LOVE, whatever form it takes. Your story is heartbreaking, and your strength is amazing. Thank you for sharing your life story and Tom's life's story. Watching Bridegroom made me feel as if I know you both and I feel like I lost someone important, as if my loved one died. I do know that somewhere, Tom's watching over you, probably playing his piano or goofing around with the angels, and definitely he's proud of you. I wish I could hug you. What a marvellous singer / performer Tom was. A CD / DVD for gay couple awareness perhaps. Tom and Shane are meant, no truer a match.
