I was at all those memorable games. He had an awkward style and that's what made him such a great player. You would certainly know he wasn't coached by any hurling academy. I never saw him hitting a foul stroke. Great man, great memories.

The game of hurling has Been changed beyond recognition from those days and not for the better sadly too much interference from officialdom has tamed it, and the inconsistsncies in refereeing has destroyed it. There was a time you would not want to blink an eye, or if you were watching it on the box you would not get up for a pee...
