"So, Mr. Cruise, again, on behalf of all the American people, on behalf of our sailors and Marines, it is my honor now to present this award, the part of the Navy Certificate Award in appreciation of distinguished Public Service to the Department, the Navy of the Secretary of the Navy, Distinguished Public Service Award to Mr. Tom Cruise for services set forth in the following Citation for Distinguished Public Service in recognition of the exceptional and wide ranging contributions made to the Department of Navy from 1986 to 2023."

And I have great respect for you. And we've known each other now these many years. And I really appreciate it. I appreciate everyone being here. I appreciate you taking the time and for this extraordinary acknowledgement. And I accept this on behalf of not just myself, but our entire cast, our crew, our writers, directors, the studios in Hollywood who are so dedicated to helping. I admire all of the servicemen and women. I know in life something that is very true to me is that is to lead is to serve. And I know that to my core. And I see that in the servicemen and women. I see that in you and you understand that. And I appreciate everyone's dedication. And it's a true honor to represent them. And I'm just very proud."

STORYLINE:
“Top Gun” himself, Tom Cruise, was saluted by the United States Navy on Tuesday.
In a short intimate ceremony at a London film studio, the actor was presented with a Navy Distinguished Public Service Award.
Cruise said he was proud to be awarded the honor by the United States Secretary of the Navy, Carlos Del Toro in appreciation of his distinguished public service.
Del Toro cited Cruise’s “exceptional and wide-ranging contributions” from 1986 to 2023 in the film industry, as an “unwavering supporter” of the Navy and Marine corps.
Cruise thanked Del Toro for the “extraordinary acknowledgement” and added that he shared the honor.
“I accept this on behalf of not just myself, but our entire cast, our crew, our writers, directors, the studios in Hollywood who are so dedicated to helping. I admire all of the servicemen and women. I know in life something that is very true to me is that is to lead is to serve. And I know that to my core. And I see that in the servicemen and women. I see that in you and you understand that. And I appreciate everyone's dedication. And it's a true honor."
Cruise accepted the award in the U.K. where he is currently working.
His next on-screen adventure is set to be “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning” which is due for release in May 2025.
