@crowtcameron3 жыл бұрын
I just realized something. First off, I fucking love this film and this scene. Cruise builds to the mask line so well. He starts the line in a regular and calm speaking voice with the "Good. Because for a minute there I thought we were talking about" and then yells "A FUCKING MASK!" as loud and pissed off as he can. He would deliver a line in Tropic Thunder in a similar way. In that film he says in a regular and calm speaking voice: "Okay. Flaming Dragon. Fuckface. First, take a big step back... and literally, (now full on screams) FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!" He, of course yells, "FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!" as loud and and angry as he can. And watching him say the mask line just now it made me think of Tropic Thunder. They both have have a great wind up and the pitch larger than life line delivery from Cruise. Also, those films had the same cinematographer, John Toll. And here's the real kicker: both lines are about faces! Crazy, right?
@SunBunz3 жыл бұрын
I was JUST thinking about that! The “FUCK YOUR OWN FACE” dialogue is my favorite. 😂😂😂😂 They sound so similar. I love when he gets mad and screams in any movie.

The soul crushing way they were so excited about the features of this prosthetic mask...and (probably unintentionally) pretty much ignoring the horrendous condition this human being is in and trying to endure. I think possibly Tom Cruise's best career performance, which is saying something. As a side note - reminded me of the way the modern-day world often treats mental illness. (Sigh). Incredibly well acted and poignant scene that cuts like a knife though.

Same! I have come back time and time again over the years to watch it. David was spoiled and had always gotten everything that he wanted in life, but that incident with Julie changed everything. The torment, desperation, and longing that he feels for a woman (Sophia) that he spent only a few magical hours with the day and night of his party are understandable and relatable. The eventual rejection that he experiences from both Sophia and his best friend the night of the club is just so sad to watch. 'We're best friends! We're bros!' When he chases after them with the backdrop of the song, Sweetness Follows by REM playing, it always makes me tear up. It's a perfect scene. We've all been there to some degree feeling that way about someone who isn't interested anymore.

I agree with you. But unfortunately the money in his pockets says otherwise. That's why we will probably never see another movie with "dramatic" Tom Cruise like he used to do and see full range of his acting abilities. Like in Magnolia, Vanilla Sky, Born on the Fourth of July, Eyes Wide Shut, etc... Although, with Tom Cruise you never know for sure. He is getting old now. Maybe he'll make the last attempt at finally getting the Oscar for acting before he is out. He is a very goal-oriented person, I feel, and, Lord knows, that award escaped him way too many times.

More interesting... Helping to reach someone more high faster, ti help in bigger variety of processes. It is another higher goal. - So I found the way of speeding it up for the rest having same stuff. As it enforces speed of overall changes as well. A lot depends not on me. On harder stuff someone passes through finding more fundamental solutions based on common gathered info. - But they use even harder stuff that can survive in application to own entities. It is not joy or game. - I can destruct it already. So not only mine immune parts are under sleeping state for a reason. But it can`t be very long. Thus ways of correct smooth changes are found before. - Immune system knocks you from time to time, anyway. Making feel strange...
