Congrats, Tom, on so many Olympics and so many Olympic medals! Choosing to retire is a challenging decision. I had severe angst in my profession when the time came to choose my retirement date, 6 years ago, but I have enjoyed my retirement years with my family and friends, and, as an added bonus, I've had time to watch you be the diver you've become. I have good news for you: you might have retired from sports, but like me, you are a parent, and even when they leave home, it is a lifetime commitment! Enjoy being a husband, a parent, a brother, a son, an uncle, AND an Olympic Games Gold/Silver/Bronze Winner!!!

We love you Tom! You'll still be around. You can always coach, judge, mentor or just support your team. You could potentially still do a couple more Olympics if you so choose!! I know it's a huge commitment and pretty much takes four years to stay in shape and keep at the same pace if not better. Congrats on all you've done for the sport and your communities!

As an American, they only showed about 30 minutes of the men’s platform diving on network TV. Did Daley even entered the men’s 10 meter (solo) platform? Or did he not make it past the first round?
@finners622 ай бұрын
He didn’t enter the individual
@MikeCee72 ай бұрын
@@finners62 Thanks for your reply. Was there a specific reason that he didn’t compete in the men’s 10 meter individual platform? Seems to me he would’ve got at least a bronze medal again. (since his syncro diving partner receive a bronze medal) I’ve tried to search on KZbin, and I only just brings up thousands of videos of his past accomplishments. - I know he only specializes in platform diving (and not springboard diving) I was just curious of why he did not compete in the men’s individual 10 meter platform diving at Paris 2024?
@chrisfinlay32742 ай бұрын
@@MikeCee7as far as I know he came out of retirement only 12 months before the games. His former synchro partner was injured so a spot on the synchro team was available. Two divers were already entered into the individual competition and would have trained over the last three years for it. That’s my guess, apart from the fact that at 30 he did not want to put extra stress on his body.
@MikeCee72 ай бұрын
@@chrisfinlay3274 Ok, Thanks for that information.

He's commented about being one the older divers in the past. But he still won a silver this time (congrats to Noah as well!) and he got the gold he wanted so long at the last Olympics. So his career can absolutely be considered a success. Hopefully he will still act as a voice for LGBTQ+ people given his high profile.
