How do people hate Tom DeLonge? Seems like the nicest guy ever

Liam King He really is. I've met him a couple of times at shows. Most of the haters are butthurt people who cant drop and let go of the 2005 blink breakup. There was one time on the last UK AVA tour, people were doing the usual crowding the bus round the back of the venue hoping to see the band. Eventually after a while, Ilan Rubin got off the bus (he was going to get coffee from starbucks), and people asked him where tom was, to which Ilan replied, he wasn't on the bus. So people started to head away from the bus toward the front of the venue. Once the big crowd had left, there was me and a handful of friends left..we were just standing around talking. And I was wearing my AVA hoodie. About 5 minutes after everybody left, who comes stepping off of the bus? Tom himself. Said he saw my hoodie, and that there was only a small group of us, so he decided to come off and say hi. He spoke with us for a good five minutes, asking how we're liking the shows, will he be seeing us at the upcoming summer blink shows etc (This AVA show was in April 2012 - Blink would tour in the summer), took pictures with us, said goodbyes, then headed back to his bus to get read for warmup/soundcheck. REALLY is a great / inspirational guy. Its a shame more people can't see that side of him instead of living in the past.

He says he was thinking of a "punk rock anthem" when he wrote Everything's Magic and ironically it ended up having a similar riff to Anthem Part 2 which is quite literally a pop punk anthem (hence it's title).

From what ive seen alot of people like to disregard toms playing abilities because in their opinions hes a mediocore guitar player and they often come to those conclusions after comparing his writing and playing to other players that are far more technical due to the music theyre playing and what i find silly about that is alot of em probably dont even play any instruments at all lol the thing is not every player needs to be a EVH or tosin abasi level player to get their message across to the fans, as long as the player is playing from the soul and the fans can relate and are moved by whats being played thats all that matters ......IMO of course.... ive been a guitar banger for over 20yrs strong now and have a broad range of playing capabilities and i personally tend to find the more simple riffs and chord progressions to carry more depth and be more impactful at times as a listener...
