The starcaster with the SH-5 is just an all around more versatile pickup. You can always add the extra gain in if you really miss it. The clarity though is worth the lack of raunchiness.

Single note riffs the Strat is better especially for blinks tone but the star caster is more volatile and better with chord riffs. I have both guitars and love them both but the Strat holds a special place with nostalgia
@JEFFKINGS8 ай бұрын
I actually thought the opposite - the Strat definitely gets those single string album tones, but the Starcaster would be my choice live because it has a fuller sound for one guitarist. Chords on the Strat sounded better overall

In today's world, with so many digital units, you can equalize the guitars in such a way that they sound similar. So in the end it's more a question of playability and feeling in your hands. The sound can be adjusted without any problem. But they both sound great.
@EricBourassa5 күн бұрын
@@SkankVideosTv yes I agree to a point. The Strat is a fatter, beefier sound with more sustain. So it will naturally do that better. Can you fatten up the starcaster and give it more beef? Sure. But I’ve experimented with different amp and guitar combos (digitally and analog), and the natural sound of a guitar is hard to change drastically. So if you gotta pick one, go with the one you most like the sound of plugged into an amp with flat EQ. Then tweak from there
@SkankVideosTv5 күн бұрын
@EricBourassa Of course that you cannot change the caracter of the guitar, but with some EQ you can make it fit into a mix pretty well so that the differences between guitars are not noticeable anymore. I can't hardly wait for my starcaster to arrive. Hopefully I won't be disappointed, haha.

I really enjoy the starcasters slightly more full bodied sound. The chords sound a little more warm, but the strat does have pretty nice single note tone. I actually think the strat chords sound a little wack beside the starcaster. But overall pretty impressed with how close to the Strat the starcaster sounds as a hollowbody Sounds much better than the Gibson hollowbody
@EricBourassa8 ай бұрын
IDK if Starcaster sounds better than a Gibson- I'd have to go a side by side running through exact same settings to know. Thing with the Strat is- it sounds better with a little LESS gain because it's so high output. Higher gain on the Starcaster is sometimes perfect but ends up being too much for the Strat and vice versa. Really comes down to how you use them

@AkimboVermon my first strat I got had a nice dent on the body. Luckily, the guitar center had three other ones for me to choose from. So, I got a perfect one on my second attempt. My first starcaster came in with an awful paint job on the front of the body. I'm always going to love both of these guitars. If you're thinking about getting either of these guitars, just do it!!! It's totally worth the pain even if you have to go through what I did to get one.
@high_on_nightmares8 ай бұрын
Very interesting side by side. They both sound amazing but the strat is definitely brighter: the star more calm. I'd be curious to hear a star with an invader instead of the sh5. Would have been a cherry on top if you'd had a TD es333 with that nasty (awesome) dirty fingers HB to throw in for comparison. But between the fenders, I'd still pick the star. It just has a unique vibe that no other guitar on the market has right now. Hearing great things from everyone about it. Anyways, thanks for the great video, great tones and faithful playing 👍

The Strat is the better guitar. If you want to make it a little fatter, warmer and more resonant, consider cryo tuning. Cryo is fantastic for Strats.
@EricBourassa2 ай бұрын
@@tobisteffen what is cryo tuning???
@tobisteffen2 ай бұрын
@@EricBourassa Cryo Tuning is a German method of artificially aging electric guitars, making it resonate more like a ~70-year old well-played vintage guitar. The guitar is frozen very slowly to extremely low temperatures and back up, making all components contract themselves to a maximum, thus changing the structure of the resins and/or other elements inside the wood, making it more open for resonance. The guitars, particularly Fender style guitars, receive more „oumpf“ and sound less wiry, having more lively overtones at the same time. The notes sound more even across the fingerboard. There are several before/after vids in KZbin, check it out.
