These are so cool. I think Hellmuth's tightness comes from his extreme desire to win. He isn't looking for good spots. He wants near absolute certain spots. I'm not defending it, and I think his play is odd, but I think he really tries to eliminate uncertainty as much as possible.

Helmuth is doing fine. Tons of "better" hyperaggressive player went broke multiple times whilePhils holds his money together. Judged by the result, Phil is the better player. He just plays tourneys primary but people compare him to cashgame spewtards.

@@mokus603 that's just a big rumor. I remember people saying he owes money to triad and things like that and then there was a video where Ivey said in a table like really quietly to Tom something like you better win so you can pay off that triad debt or something like that but it seemed like just joking because of the rumors. The rumor seemed to just kinda came out of nowhere after Dwan played quite a lot in Singapore for example. In all reality I just don't see why he would loan money from a gang when there is millionaires he can do that. There is still players that are pissed off because he owes them 70k or this or that when Dwan seemed to be going thru somekinda rough time. Triad kidnapping him and making him play just sounds a bit weard when dude could make a bookdeal at this point if it really happened and make sure money off of that but he just laughs it off when he was for example asked something like why he was missing in this interview series and said he didn't know he was missing. I think something happened at the time, Dwan was propably just in a hole horrendeously but I don't know that he was kidnapped by triad and made to play. It's quite a lot to say without any real evidence of anything like that.

This would let you use the cheapest solver I know, GTO+. It's made by the same people that made Flopzilla, both great software. However, you will need a lot of RAM to use GTO+ or any solver (I think this is still better than paying a monthly subscription since the Macbook will still be yours to keep instead of the last recommendation). There's Discord groups who will give you GTO solutions (not the software) for free like this one I'm part of. Just join and be cool. discord.gg/4xGabYraKM By the way, There's phone apps who give you some GTO solutions for free or they sell the ones you ask for (to me this makes sense, because 1 person can buy pioSolver or something else and build an expensive computer, then start solving everything and selling the results). The ones I can think of are: GTO Sensei, Poker Preflop GTO, DTO Poker, Solver+, The Preflop Advantage Lite. Look on the iPhone store for GTO apps.

I don't get why these guys don't get those changing things up allows you to get called in various places, or played back at, when you have great hands. I have seen Phil limp with KK in the same spot. These guys think there is only one way to plat, aggression, that's just not the case. You have to be aggressive and deceptive. I played 9n the Sunday Million on PS three weeks in a row before they shut it down, with like over 8,000 people, finished 28th, 50th and 51st, gt unlucky with KK vs. JJ on the first one. I do all kinds of odd things at the table, but I never blow up, that where people (including Phil sometimes) screw up, especially Matasou, lol. I remember when the raise was 3 to 4 times, now is 2 to 2.5, Poker is continually changing. I think Phil is a great Tournament player, but not a great cash player, where you need more aggression.

shitload of top gms get busted for cheating on chess.com 1500 players dont cheat and you can tell because their 1500 players ! im a 1700 player and i can honestly say ive never faced a cheat in 12 years of playing, doesnt happen sub 2000.

I haven't been playing nearly as long as you have, but I can say you are definitely wrong about under 2000 players not cheating. Some players hold grudges and simply want to beat someone they're sick of losing to, or punish for not giving rematches, talking trash, etc. And I'm assuming you don't know that you can run an engine only at critical points during a game, and turn it off later to avoid detection for suspicious levels of accuracy in your play. It sucks but its happened a lot to me on chesscom, players having very weak opening and middle play, and then flawless endgame ability, for example. (I'm a 2100 bullet/1900 standard and blitz)

People like to trash Hellmuth, but 16 WSOP bracelets including 2 Main Event wins spanning 35 years and he is still winning bracelets in 2021, that consistency is crazy seeing how much gameplay has changed and how much the field size has increased since he started. If he thinks he 4x better in a tournament than anybody else there - he might be right.

After hearing Tom Dwan's interviews over the past 5 years, ever since the majority of his poker games are in Macau and Asia, he rarely talks bad about poker players, especially the "producers" or "MVPs" in the poker game. Nick Schulman is a pretty good interviewer, as well as a commentor and poker pro but Dwan would rarely be brutally honest and specific. Concerning Hellmuth, as usual Dwan took the high road and said "He's really quite smart".....
