​@@Wouldntyouliketoknow1111 I'm in the US but I was in a small religious sect and went to a high school and college that's part of that religion. but it's not particularly religiously based as much as it's a very small group of people so you basically have to be friends with your exes/be ok with for example your close friends dating or even marrying your exes. I guess it's supposed to show 'no hard feelings'. I don't know why it's only your last ex though. This one guy in our college friend group kinda put us off because literally the only 'friend' he invited to his wedding was his last ex?? and I wonder if it is because he dated basically all the girls in our friend group and his wife was too jealous to have us all there, but had to at least follow the social 'rule' of inviting the last ex?? even though none of us really thought of him as anything more than a friend at that point. his wife was one of our professors, btw, lol. but that was one particularly bizarre and messy case... Also I found out the same social rule is true for British royal family and UK aristocrats in general and honestly it might be trying to copy them because we had to do so much finishing school training at our school, lol.
