Drew Barrymore Calls Her Divorce ‘Tragic’

Drew Barrymore opened up about what life has been like raising her children after her divorce from her husband, Will Kopelman. Drew, who shares daughters, Olive, 8, and Frankie, 6, with her ex-husband, recently revealed in a new interview with host Willie Geist on “Sunday Today,” that it wasn’t easy moving on from her marriage knowing how it may affect their children. “His family and I sort of made the most important choice: to be so together and united and connected. That's, I guess, what they call family ... And I know from not growing up with any family whatsoever that that was the last thing I wanted to do for my daughters.” Geist.

Try divorce after 25 years, when you thought it was fine. Than I was dragged around my apartment by my husband and daughter because I was separating and packing my belongings! It all became theirs. Now I live in my car starting over, disabled and divorced at 62! Life is just beginning!

She does have the best family background divorces, marraiges half siblings that she only saw occasionally, a dad who had mental problems or drug problems and ignored her growing up that she had to accept but she nursed him when he got sick and died. Her mom could not handle her when she started to rebel and her acting career hit a high then fell down. She pretty much had to raise herself probably wants her girls to have the childhood she never had.

I don’t know .... I went through the same thing . I did not love my ex at all ... but divorce in it self was very painful. Was hard on everyone but mostly on my son. And I felt responsible for his pain.

It's about being too dependent on a man to fulfill yourself too much and happiness. Things can go wrong, people change in time, people have different personalities, wanting their independence, different jobs, hobbies, and people want to move to different locations which was the disagreements they had a lot so most of it isn't because they stopped loving each other, they just had different ways of living. She said that in an interview once. It's ok to be happy without someone romantically and be best friends. Sometimes it's for the best so you don't get hurt or disappointed. Drew felt like she failed from holding onto him too much thinking he'll want the same thing or it'll stay the same. Every relationship and marriage is like this and people even keep secrets from each other too. I mean it's good to be honest and own up to your own happiness and not be too giving to a partner. If you're too giving, you're depending too much on keeping people happy and for the sake of a relationship to keep it going even when times are hard. People need to stop being too attached and too giving to be loved or liked.
