I was an extra on Homeland and I can confirm that his impression of "we are rolling" was dead on. Thanks for that Tom that was the best. Ugh it was the constant stops and restarts and having to do the same scene 30 times so they could get a different angle for the next 3 lines that made me realize I'm sticking with theater. Like in a film when you see two people talking but they switch from each person's back shoulder. Yeah that's usually literally being filmed all the way through twice (at minimum).

I was on a television show when I was eight as myself and my friend had been chosen to walk out onto this catwalk and do this weird improvised dance (it was a silly contest for childrens television). We were meant to be introduced before we came out and the man who had to introduce us was required to do it like over 20 times, thankfully we only had to do our own dance once because we had silly string sprayed on us but I could totally related to what you were saying. All the guy had to do was introduce us in one sentence and it took, I would say, well over an hour and being only eight years old, I became so bored after only the 5th take, it really takes away the magic of television.
