The ongoing commentary provided by Bane was very effective in getting into his opponent’s head, similar to Ali talking to Foreman and destroying him mentally, then physically. It’s not easy to talk and fight at the same time.

Bane was one of the most interesting Batman villain imo. He's both a physical and intelligent threat to Batman. Because of this he had different versions either leaning more on the physical type or the intelligent type. One version in the Batman cartoons, he's like a ninja assassin that can hulk out. In the Arkham games he's straight out a steroid-powered hulk that Batman literally cnt fight head on. Hardy's version is more of a terrorist fanatic with almost inhuman strenght.

Exactly why creativity is so important to movies. You need filmmakers who are willing to take risks like this in order to get more memorable performances. This is what makes Nolan's Batman movies so great. Joker and Bane in particular were created in a way that made them entirely unique to Nolans take on Batman characters and will be remembered forever because of it. Rather than what most superhero movies do where everything is really safe and generic and is easily forgotten after watching it.

No doubt. His Peaky Blinders character, Alfie Solomons is sublime. "He'll Wake Up. Granted, He Won't Have Any Teeth Left, But He Will Be A Wiser Man For It." He also played Twombly a US Army Ranger in Black Hawk Down. I think it was the scene where his buddy lost his hearing.

I also liked how Bane did a callback to Batman Begins with his own twist: "Theatricality and deception are powerful agents.... against the uninitiated". That first part is exactly what Rhaas said in the first film. Bane added his own tweak with "for the uninitiated" part. I only realised this last week when I rewatched Begins as I purchased it on DVD.
