Is it weird to say that Tom Hardy is an underrated actor? I mean I know he's a big star, and a big presence in the acting world, yet I don't ever seem to hear his name that much. Yet quietly, to me anyway, he's on the short list of most talented actors of his generation
@brandothecatmeow
@brandothecatmeow 2 жыл бұрын
There is a difference between actor and celebrity. He's a very private guy, so he doesn't seek out the spotlight like a lot of celebs do. Most actors that are not celebs are the ones less heard of or that don't get much publicity. I personally think it's better that way. Less chance of being oversaturated. Yes, he is definitely extremely talented and always look for ward to whatever he's in.

You get used to those temperatures, I grew up and had no problem with - 25, now, having lived in the west for the last 10 years (lowest would be around -5 C except for a few trips to similar extreme environments in Norway) it's lot more difficult to take these temperatures. Another huge factor I noticed is humidity.. If its really dry, you can handle the extremes a lot easier, both cold and hot, that is my experience..

I met Mika Salo at Goodwood in 1999. Really nice bloke, very down to earth. I remember he was wearing a set of Nelson Piquet’s old overalls. He was about to drive the 1,200bhp Williams Honda from 1986 and was saying he’d only driven it out of the paddock area and didn’t really know what to expect. About 5 mins later he launched it off the line bouncing it off the rev limiter. Full send. That got a lot of applause

There are places where you cannot travel in the SUMMER. You need the cold to even THINK of getting to your destination. I would LOVE to watch a documentary like this that braves the summer in Siberia. The hardships present then are probably JUST as challenging as the trek in winter. Certainly not dangerous for the same reasons, but perhaps challenging for other reasons. Insects come to mind. Soft roadways, did I mention "insects". I would just love to see what it is like making this journey in summer. It IS a brutal place. Great video!!! I loved watching this. You guys did a spectacular job. THANKS!!!

@henriks5008

@Ingens_Scherz
@Ingens_Scherz 4 жыл бұрын
All those trashed and broken down cars littering the side of that road would suggest otherwise. If the locals had the choice, they'd be opting highest spec convoys too, no doubt. But they don't so they can't - and so have to take the risk. "Adventure" in other words, but without the element of fun, and anything but exaggerated.
@Talynen
@Talynen 4 жыл бұрын
That's just the start as well. The title? Coldest place on EARTH - nope. Not even close. Then you watch the video and it's coldest ROAD in the world, to the coldest INHABITED place on Earth. Just.... why? How about release a video without sensationalizing it so hard that Fifth Gear forgets what reality is, and end up outright lying about the content? How about editing the piece in another direction, where we empathize with the people who have to live with this weather and the challenges they face instead of trying to make out Tom Hardy as some sort of 21st century Sir Edmund Hillary? They show up to the challenge wearing blue jeans. BLUE JEANS! Anyone who has taken a single mountaineering class, or was in Boy Scouts, has heard that cotton is the worst material you can have for staying warm in wet and cold weather. Plus, look at the tires on the car and compare it to the the tires on a WRC car for Rally Sweden. One stud every couple of tread blocks, just on the outer shoulder? What a joke! I mean, people complain about clickbait KZbinrs - gee, I wonder where it started? Ah, yeah, major broadcasting networks like the BBC with marketing and legal departments who push the boundaries on how much they can lie to our faces without making it worth anyone's time to sue them over it.

Sure a lot of critical comments. I find it kinda fascinating. I wasn’t intending to watch the whole thing, but I ended up doing that. Having spent time in Alaska and Wyoming the bitter cold can cut right through to the bone. It hurts and within a few minutes it’s hard to move the fingers. Can’t stop thinking about the book South. The ship got stuck in the ice during that expedition. I felt bad for the men and their dogs. Talk about endurance and tenacity and heartache.

My father walked on frozen lake 40km at -50 at night in 80s. Almost fell in. I don’t remember what the place is called, but it’s a place where the airport on the another side of the lake. My father used to take me with him on business trips to Yakutsk in 96-99, I remember it was like living in a fridge. Believe me, even the good money and business, didn’t hold us there for long, crazy place. Depressing...

Hi! I'm from Yakutsk! i remember that time when Tom Hardy were in our city. Big event for our small city. He even showed up on premiere of his movie "This means War" in local cinema called "Lena" and watched it with people. That seat in cinema becomes a "Tom Hardy's seat" :)

The main reason this region gets so cold is because it is far inland from the sea and protected from the wind by ranges. The air is very dry and very still, which allows it to get to as low as -70 degrees Celsius in extreme cases. I think their schools have a "snow day" if temp falls to below negative 50 degree Celsius.
