Edgar Wright wrote the Script for Ant-Man BEFORE IronMan came out. Of course he had to change his vision. They couldn't just ignore the 14 movies they made in between that time.

its a damn cinematic universe where every movie has to be connected. Wright wanted to make a stand alone movie without much connection to what happened in the previous movies. So dont wonder that they didnt let him do it.

Kevin McCallister Not true at all. They give the directors with a passionate and faithful vision the freedom to do what they want. I said on day 1 that Edgar Wright was a bad choice for Ant-Man and he wanted to make a movie separate from the MCU. Tough. He had nine years to change the movie up but didn't. That's on him. The Russos, James Gunn, Scott Derrickson, Taika Watiti, etc have all said that working with Marvel was creatively nurturing. Scott Derrickson even said that he never felt more supported as a filmmaker than he did working with Marvel. Edgar Wright was just the wrong guy for the job.

Edgar Wright was the reason why we didn't get to see Hank Pym's Ant-Man and Janet's Wasp in the first Avengers movie, so they had to replaced them with Hawkeye and Black Widow. Then they had to compromised by using Scott Lang as Ant-Man while Hank Pym retired and being a mentor to him so that it can tied in with the cinematic.
