Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy, Black Sails) joins us this week to share his experience in this industry from finding balance in his health amid physically demanding roles to the grounded perspective that parenting has brought him. Tom talks a lot about Umbrella Academy’s bittersweet ending, uncomfortable pain in early seasons, and everything in between. Seven years - four seasons, what a f*cking waste. This show could have went for 6-7 seasons. So much unanswered questions, so much un-used material and storylines.

Tom needs to book a major comic book role, he's built for it! Maybe as Green Arrow, Aquaman, or Richard Rider and Captain Britain in Marvel, but it should be a major character!

I legit only started watching The Umbrella Academy because of Tom Hopper since I loved him in Merlin and then in my favorite episode of Doctor Who. I was so happy to see him in a leading role like Luther Hargreeves! Well done, sir!

@TardisNerdGirl For me, it was when he was in Black Sails, which was on Stars Channel app, and I loved the show and I was first made aware of him as a legit great actor through that as Captain Flint's Quartermaster. Then, in Umbrella Academy so much changed since the beginning it's crazy. And the Reginald Hargrave's actor is just stealing the show every season. He's just such a transformational actor and so versatile.

I think they knew they wanted the characters to die and worked backwards from that instead of continuing actual plot lines from previous seasons because they didn't know how to continue them without leading to future seasons, they truly fumbled the bag

Umbrella Academy and Tokyo Vice both getting cancelled hurt me for sure. At least Tokyo Vice ended with a good ending. I know a lot of people were let down by Umbrella Academy but I love the cast so much I was happy we got one last hoorah ❤

I didn't like the turn the show took after "Victor" came out of the closet. I think that move threw off the writers and the whole show took on a weird vibe. I personally am glad they put it out of its misery while we still had good memories of the first season.

The show didn’t make a woman a man. The female cast member who played Vanya transitioned to a male in real life and the new gender had to be written into the show. Unless you would have preferred they killed off the character which would have been unseemly considering her power.
