If you can afford an amazing 500,000 dolla lawyer with connections or know a family or friend with connections to a judge or governmental higher up official Than than you will either get off or a slap on the wrist in the form of the most mild punishment they can get away giving you, and if you don’t have $$$ or connections and no blackmail material than your are gonna have to hope for the best and that you got at least a descent lawyer

A thing about the disparity of prison or jail time is the fact that most of the time if someone is getting more time than another for the same crime that person has had more prior arrests than the person who doesnt have such a long wrap sheet. I saw it in court the other week, a white guy had more priors than a black guy and they both got caught speeding, the black guy got less punishment than the white guy. Judges tend to treat each case as the individual case they should. Not to say our prison system is perfect, far from it.
