I was a teenager listening to these two at this time. I was in love with Sir Tom and his magnificent voice. Still am at age 71. I really thought back then that Joe Cocker had cerebral palsy! I loved his music, but his movements were so odd. Tom insisted he be able to choose his guests for his variety show, and he could sing any genre, any style with absolutely everyone. The 60s and 70s had the best musicians and vocalists....period.

I first saw Tom Jones in a theatre club in England. I was 19 years old and he was about the same. He'd just made his first record. He came on stage on blew the roof off, Power, soul, drama his voice had it all. I saw Joe Cocker in Perth Australia when he was about 60 ish and he could still show today's vocalists how its done.
