After you finish batyear, it would be interesting to see you guys create your own batman cannon/timeline with your favorite arcs. Also would be interesting to see you guys create an ultimate batman, combining your favorite depictions from throughout the years, fighting style, mind set, etc. Keep up the great work guys, look forward to each episode.

Punch and Judy are Charlton Comics characters by Steve Ditko (Same era and company as Blue Beetle, The Question and Captain Atom)

Dylan Wheeler ohhhh- that makes perfect sense as to why Doomsday Clock’s Mime and Marrionette are so similar, considering the Watchmen characters are facsimiles of the Charlton characters. Nice insight!

It’s not a thing at all - I spent a long while studying the issues and specials of magazines like Kirby Collector, Back Issues, Alter Ego and the like because loving the Silver Age was easy for the reprint digests that DC used to release in 711 and supermRketa like 35 years ago (Aeriously they were the same size as those Archie digests that I still see at the grocery store) but I really wanted to understand it and to teach myself to love the art of Kirby and Ditko which I have to admit I love em now but it took me awhile to get there. That was before studying the Bronze Age stuff, cause at that point it was the 90s and comics became very dumb for a long time.

Probably, villains sided with them not out of fear or respect, but because they either needed smth from them, or they just had to. Penguin works for Joker, and maybe Freeze needs Cobblepot's money to cure Nora or whatever. Maybe Two-Face just wanted this war to end, so he flipped the coin and sided with Riddler. Easy to imagine.

First off congrats on 1000 subscribers... Ok Tom Kings run as a whole I find actually really really good... i just love unapologetically unique takes on characters... and unapologetic is a word that fits this run... though I find his one off or smaller stories to be his best... i love his kite man stuff (by the way... i find him saying hell yeah kind of endearing as i take it as a death wish thing to wind up where his son did, if his son went to hell for saying hell yeah, then he will follow), i loved rooftops and brave and the mold and #24, but mayhaps you should have covered the button, batman #22 or the button part 3 in particular brings back Thomas wayne in an awsome way and continues on the themes of how being batman is a detrement to bruce himself and others, also thomas wayne appears later in the series i believe...
@hunkque69796 жыл бұрын
(Sorry for the essay...) also the ending of the war of jokes and riddles i find interesting, taking a whole arc to build up to a point where batman almost breaks his ideals and then having catwoman at the end literally say "who cares" is an endearing way of saying "i want to marry batman, not what people, including batman, want batman to be" warts and all that kind of thing... if that makes sense... ( this whole thing makes sense in my head i swear...) Anyway love the channel and if you are taking recommendations... (to add to an already massive to do list I'm sure), i would love to see your take on omega men as well as the whole injustice saga, or at least the tom taylor stuff

Still on the snyder run, no further than zero year. Does kings run carry on from that, where does batman metal fit in? I enjoyed listening to you guys explain it, however there are certain things that frustrate me, like if it was so easy for the batman to beat bane, literally one headbutt, then why didn't he do it earlier??!! I've gone back to other stuff to read for a little while, just picked up the next two trades I needed for Fables.
@troytothemax87676 жыл бұрын
So far Kings run only references Zero Year, and only in passing. Have no idea where Metal fits in. Never read it. And hope you enjoy Fables. I finished it last year and have been waiting for Dave to read it so I could talk about it with somebody!
@ImperiusRex6 жыл бұрын
The headbutt argument is a solid criticism. Overall I liked it, but some parts work better than others. I feel like Morrison, King goes for the long game, sometimes at the expense of characters behaving a little... out of character at times. As for Metal- not a fan. Looked great, but it was so epic and chock full of tie ins, it felt like the story only existed to introduce tie ins. Just finished reading Spider-Verse and had the exact same opinion.
@L0NELYBRICK6 жыл бұрын
@@troytothemax8767 I love Fables, I'm up to about trade ten, but I've been slowly picking it up for a while now, same as I do with everything else I slowly work through a collected series over years, flitting back and forth between different properties, then when I come back to the series I was originally reading I discover that it's no longer in print!!

You guys made me wanna read something I had no intention of before And I think that´s great! your insights are pretty good. (Also c´mon, Batman shouldn´t kill Joker because it´s not moral, that´s it) Also i´d love to hear more of your thoughts about Morrison, even in podcast form. Im such a morrison fan tbh, even though I think his ideas/concepts tend to be better/stronger than his endings (which sometimes are pretty weak, for example i didn´t much cared for Batman Inc. yet it has been stuck in my mind).
@ImperiusRex6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Oscar- glad we may have turned you onto a book you weren't considering before. As for Morrison, we could go on all day about him... a podcast isn't a bad idea. We do a twice-a-month podcast on our patreon channel, and this would make for a good topic of conversation...
@possiblefossilrecords5 жыл бұрын
It is very much moral to kill someone that is a murderer and will kill other people. Especially if you are stopping them in the act. It is self defense which is a natural right of all life forms.

I know they gotta do certain stuff to advance the plot but man, I feel like Killer Croc has a damn good chance of taking on Bane, and Solomon Grundy.... can slug it out with Superman.
@ImperiusRex6 жыл бұрын
Yeah- didn't Bane wreck Croc on their first encounter though? Or maybe that was just in the animated series... and Grundy- I have no idea what his max power level is...
@jacobkeary67406 жыл бұрын
@@ImperiusRex I know Bane outfought Croc when they first fought, and my interpretation was Bane was the only guy with the technique _and_ strength to arm bar Croc. Bats might be skilled enough but he isn't strong enough. It really depends on the writer, plot, and writer-character favoritism. That being said the more high end Croc feats are way above high end Bane feats although Croc's strength is far less consistent.

I dug the hell out of it. Not sure why it gets a bad wrap. Definitely bringing some new ideas and some depth to Batman that hasn’t been established before. And it’s a lot more grounded than Snyder’s run ended up being.
