I knew he liked Danny Kaye, and his songs influenced his writing, but I did not know he idolized Kaye from an early age. I loved Danny Kaye movies when I was a kid.

Thank you for posting this! Wonderful to hear. Tom Lehrer has been a part of my life since 1960 as, at 4 years of age I danced with my sister to the Irish Ballad, to the horror of my parents!

I sang "Tchaikovsky" in my college acting class for extra credit. I sang to the correct melody whereas Tom did not, but never mind.
