You, sir, were 11 when I was born. That most likely means when I was 8 you were in country while I was running around on the Drill Floor at my dad's Army Reserve unit center. (Dad was WWII Europe, 150th Infantry 1942-45). Years later, I served on that same Drill Floor in the 321st Ordnance Battalion, DS/GS. Thanks to you and your comrades, I am now 63 and still have never been in a combat zone. Thank you and welcome home.

I just read through the same comments you mentioned. It's crazy how our Vets have broken bodies and many with broken minds. They fought for the country and ALL Americans yet were left out to dry. USMC vet here, outside of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWII, and to an extent the Korean war, there hasn't been a veteran who has actually fought for the freedoms of our country. Veterans have been manipulated and exploited, their sacrifices made in vain for bullshit reasons. Virtually every conflict we've been involved in outside of those has been for petty reasons that don't concern us. Like Vietnam, Desert Storm, Somalia, etc., all wars fought against countries that posed absolutely zero threat to us or our interests. Lives were lost and the people in charge didn't give a fuck. Meanwhile the military-industrial complex made billions off of these bullshit campaigns. You shouldn't thank them for these sacrifices, you should be angry that those sacrifices were made and American lives were just casually thrown aside.

There's no doubt that many of the wars of the past century have been avoidable and probably driven by greed, crony-capitalism or other nefarious reasons.
