Tom, you won’t read this message but I’m a Marine who served in Iraq during the invasion and again in 2005 to 2006. I have PTSD and survivors guilt. Your song will save my life. I heard it for the first time a month ago and am now on day 32 of being sober. I’ve thrown away more relationships than I care to admit over alcohol. At one point I told myself to let the demons win. They didn’t thanks to you. I called my parents a few days ago to start rebuilding. I’ve also scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist to hopefully help me fix other areas. I refuse to be another number. I know my path is not easy but thank you thank you thank you for this. I don’t even know what else to say. I know I’m not the only person hearing this who you have saved but some day I’d love to buy you a coffee or soda. Here’s to no more day zeroes and no more demons winning. S/F bro.

My brother served in the Navy and came home a drunken mess and it took 3 years for him to hit rock bottom and at times I wished him dead for all the pain he caused my parents then he put himself in AA for the long hall. When he the halfway house and got his first chip we all showed up to support him and after that it was nothing but up for him so he went out and got a late college degree and a great job at a major plastics engineering company and found himself a good wife all in his forties. It's never too late for an honest second chance so stay on the right path and keep your old drinking buddies at a distance until they see what your truly striving for. Godspeed to you.

I hope you read this. I need help. Ice has ruined my life. I used to be bad off on heroin but I went to prison and got clean from that. Only I picked up ice a couple years after I got out of prison and I'm still doing it today. I just did a shot an hour ago. I'm hideously disgusted with myself. It cost my fiance already among many other things. I used the excuse of life being hard due to felony convictions and society being hypocritical and uncaring but those excuses ran dry a long time ago. Now I feel nothing. I have to use to be normal feeling again but the problem is I never feel anything. Not the drug. Not emotions, nothing. I don't care about anything and I'm tired of disappointing everyone. I want to die but I'm too much of a coward to do it myself, unfortunately. I have no friends no girl no kids no family. I have no one. That only makes it easier to stay in the shit. I have hit a dead end without the added benefit of dying. What do I do? I know I don't have long to live. One way or another I know I'm nearing the end. What do I do?? I'm terrified of going through withdrawals again and have no support group. I'm lost and while I I'm tired of being lost, it's all I've known for so long I don't remember any other way to be. I'm a phony. A pretender. An imposter. An Island of my own making drifting further and further into the abyss and can't see a single lighthouse anywhere and the sharks are circling.

Guess, if he isn’t updating this comment from when he was waking up hungover from a bender we all know what’s happening. Leaving an addiction behind, especially one that’s truly inside of you, takes a whole hell of a lot more than a hopeful comment online to walk away from. With that said, if he ever comes back and looks through these comments they could be what saves his life, we’ve all been there brother, we all are still right there with you, even if we haven’t touched our doc in years. No matter how low you get remember that you have an entire life ahead of you. Time to change, or at least try too. I can’t even count the times I’ve hit a milestone and been overran with sorrow and went right back, how many times I’ve disappointed everyone in my life, how close to death I’ve gotten and continued to play with fate. I’m on medication that allows me to have a life. I am truly my worst enemy, just like everyone in this thread or comment section is, so take our advice, and stay strong, stay positive and know our shared struggles make us stronger. Good luck and know, we believe in you.

@@swisstoni5844 This era might be the last opportunity for the elite to play the races off of each other. The internet is red-pilling everyone about everything. The elite are getting more desperate, that's why they're trying so damn hard to find racists or make racists. Billions are being spent on the programs designed to find or make them. They destroyed the black community by poisoning their women against their men and making it profitable. Now they're going after every community. This has never been about race, it was always about the elite maintaining dynastic power over everyone else. Every political system gets corrupted by their ilk so that the best thieves reap the most rewards. From Communism to Fascism the elite always eat the bounty and give scraps to the rest of us. All while putting the hoi polloi at each other's throats. They won't be able to get away with this for very much longer. Even in the deep South, families are getting mixed with all races. Hard to claim racism when everyone is some combination of all races. They'll still try... but they'll fail.

Tom, you have no idea just how much this song hits me. Your lyrics...you are basically telling my story but are missing some parts. I'm 44 years old, I was also married to the booze and my mistress was white powder and/or it's hard ugly sister. 5 years ago my life changed, I became a paraplegic, to be honest I'm kinda lucky I'm alive. Most people who get hit by a train that's going 32km/h are usually in pieces. I was absolutely hammered and decided to take a short cut home. I guess I got tired from walking and sat down on the rail. Woke up face down and hearing the train go into emergency. Tried to get up and realized I couldn't move my legs. Blacked out. Came too in being loaded into a helicopter...5 days later and so doped up on pain meds in the hospital I started to remember my name. Booze never solved any of my problems. I never found any answers at the bottom of any bottle of beer I drank. I have just about 3 years of sobriety now, I do not have the urges to drink anymore. It really is "One Day at a Time" as the saying goes. I'm an alcoholic/drug addict and I will be fighting this devil EVERY DAY. I've danced long enough with the devil that I know now when it's going to try and defeat me but I will not be defeated. My life is so much better now, stress free, booze and drug free. I go to bed with a clear head and I wake up feeling better and ready to face the day. I now have sole custody of my 6 year old little girl and she is doing great in school and is respectful of people, especially disabled people. Tom, please, please making great music, you have a forever fan now. Cheers from your homeland. One Day at a Time 🇨🇦🧑‍🦽♿

I wish that some of the lyrics would refer to me when I'm drunk. I know I drink too much but I don't behave like an asshole or do stupid things, but I'm afraid of my health. On the other side I escape all the bullshit that's going on right now and I'm happy to miss a couple of hours every other day!

(it is like that raid shadowwhatever game that you see on every ad wall 70% of youtubers doing an add spot for and now even has tv commercials cus they know that even if they spend a few million in adds all they need is to hook a few hundred whales and they make back ten times as much)

Chef Life That’s a “big oh my”in this world we live in. But there’s something bigger we aren’t too keen to yet and that’s alright. I feel like she’s there. Eternal life is beautiful and significantly abounding compared to this spec of salt tossed on the timeline we have. Have faith. It’s not what we do, but what Jesus did. We’re all sinners.. doesn’t matter how much or how little. We all are. We don’t compare. None of us are good. The person who points to themselves about their goodness... do not worry about them that’s a faulty on their part and shows weakness. Lol trust me. you opened up, shows your humbleness which is actually strength and is honorable. Cling onto Him. He is the only medicine. Doubt is natural, but still cling! That’s all we can do, but nothing we can do is enough. What He did was everything. Like I said, a spec of salt... stay strong, this is nothing compared to what is later!

This song helped keep me sober. I lost nearly all my friends and girlfriend of 6 years to my drinking. I started isolated and not caring. After my second arrest, I made a promise that I would never drinking again. That was 16 months ago. The second bridge starting with “I’m a mess” hits home. My girlfriend was the love of my life and I chased her away. It’s something I have to live with. That was my rock bottom. I am grateful alcohol is not in my life anymore

I'm 20 and have never gotten drunk to.this day. I've lost "friends" because I choose not to drink with them. All I see is the destruction alchohol cause and how people change from it. When I was younger my mom left my dad and the week she left my dad turned to.alchol passing out every night from it and causing destruction he then killed himself. To have fun now a days I guess people have to alter their minds.

I love how the ones that say it’s better are ones who don’t listen to any of it anyway. You don’t care for the song? Then it ain’t better than shit, music is an art form primarily hinging on rhythm. Maybe if you go back and listen to the 90% you’ll realize it’s a lot catchier and that’s the skill behind it. Just cause you talk about “real” shit doesn’t mean it’s not “real shitty”

I’m in my late 40’s and I never drank in my life. When I was a little kid around 12 years old my father used to come home drunk every night and yell at my mother and me for no reason. I made a promise to myself that when I grow up I will NEVER drink and become like my father. 35 years later and I’m still keeping that promise that I made to myself when I was 12 years old. I’m actually very proud to say that I’m 47 years old and I have no idea what it feels like to be drunk. Even to this day I still don’t touch the stuff.
