Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

@Jayo Delaware you're judging him just based off one song he did with an eminem beat? Seems kind of short sighted seeing as every artist ever has created garbage music. The only difference is he does it all himself.

@Jayo Delaware what do you even know about what hip hop needs. Hip hops done nothing about dudes killing each other for decades yet it’s “cool” to talk about BLM like it ain’t contradicting to do so. If anything “the culture” has only deteriorated and made people further from God. Tom’s music does the opposite and he doesn’t have to sacrifice saying real ass shit to do it. In my opinion you’re just a hater who’s mad and don’t even know why

@Jayo Delaware The song u listen to was a thank u tribute for eminem,,,,,,u know Part 2 "Dear slim" from Stan. That was eminems beat from back then,,, dont judge till u heard Tom's songs that he does with Nova,,, He raps about what's going on in the world, RIGHT NOW!, im not gonna waist to much time explaining,,,, SO GO LISTEN TO HIS SONGS ( ALL) THEN U CAN SAY WHAT U THINK ! TRUST ME ,,, HES GOOD 👍

“Because that’s his job as a man” Yes 100 times yes it is!!! I would love to know the ratio of people without a strong father figure in their life that dislike Tom bet it’s most! The judging him as cringe comes from insecurity within. The speed and Fearlessness at which this man puts out content is inspiring. I’ve been writing poems and lyric for most of my life that the world will never see no matter what I write I feel like it’s not good enough So I’m perfecting and perfecting and perfecting. Sometimes Tom stuff is not perfect but he has the balls to put it out there and keep on going.Doesn’t hurt to have a brilliantly talented awesome girlfriend shooting your videos either!

What a have today is emasculated and feminine men everywhere , this is not good! It might make sense to a controlling overLord to weaken the father figure but society overall suffers for this. Tom must be different cos I've listened or heard a thousand soundcloud Face tat rappers before and none in that 15 years or so I have wanted to even listen to another of their tracks apart from this guy. So I'm putting him in a different category pretty much. A lot of rappers , they might say this stuff but they dont MEAN this stuff they're saying theyre just riding the wave. I like real hip-hop and hardcore hip-hop snowgoons immortal tech bill diabolic shit like that. So to say I like this guy is hopefully a sign that rap is changing for the better. There's only so much dumbed out, candy rap the world can handle! And it's now proven listening to that and at its recorded BPM patterns makes you dumb.. you actually get dumber listening to that bullsht. I like the message and support tom McDonald i hope he gets even bigger cos we need voices like this to speak out to the mainstream

Yeah and people used to say they’re rapping to be real and tell their stories and not to glamorize things like murder and drug addiction. But you can’t really say that any more, today glamorizing the worst aspects of the streets is how you sell songs and eventually to stay hot in this industry you’re going to have to compromise on your deepest values and sell your soul. And if you don’t get ready to be cancelled when you stand up for what you actually believe in

Tom is exactly the kind of voice that the world needs right now. There is a crazy amount of pressure on people these days to believe that there is only one way to think, to act, to feel, and to be. The other half of the world that doesn't feel that way should should just sit down and shut up because they're just bad people. People are definitely sick of being told how to exist because if they don't conform they will be targeted or canceled. The narcissistic mind set that there is only one right way to be, is a cancer to our society. It attempts to destroy the true beauty of diversity and our ability to have honest discussions with one another, that would help create understanding, acceptance, and comradery. Tom keep being exactly who you are, a real, honest, funny, outspoken, and a genuinely good guy. It's a breath of fresh air. 💯✌ #HOG4EVER ❤

I find this interview engaging and resonating. My carpool buddies a big Tom fan. I'm currently one to try and make something different and disengage from the World. I do believe we got to set up the kids more then anything right now. And yeah I agree with the passion Tom was speaking on where people just go from one end to another in there lives. Habitually living. Then with that add the drugs or alcohal to cope for many, and it feels like modernized slavery. Where people don't realize the time and who they are or could be getting sucked out of them. Not only that, but people live in fear because they are so desensitized. They put up walls. I'll be here all night speaking my mind on things. Good interview and conversation.

Much respect to Tom MacDonald. But the fact is that the main color is green. More than black, white, red, yellow or blue. Green like our fiat currency/fake paper money, green like the forrests that are being eliminated, green like the envy caused by wealth disparity, green like the marijuana that heals our nation. Our problems here in America are mostly caused by unfettered capitalism, racism, sexism and groupthink, among other things. Honestly I love this dude’s whole lil persona and character and business acumen and creative ability and work ethic and big set of balls and all, ya know. He’s dealt with pretty much the same struggles as the rest of us here in the Land of the fee & the home of the slave. So I fux wit him. He’s a great talent that saves more than he rapes. I hope society treats him and his girl well in spite of their success instead of sabotaging them because of it. Bless up

Tom, about the title and what you said around the 7 min mark; man your poops is a dork for that yo, hopefully he gave you the real adult context of those lyrics, the reasons why Shady and Marilyn were saying what they said not just a "yo these lyrics ain't cool even tho they're super talented" Especially Manson His lyrics are intrinsically good in nature and a lot of the mainstream narrative and status quo is what he was going after. Basically not to buy in what the TV is teaching you. I'm probably younger than your pops being born in 73 but ya never know. Perspectives change quickly through the generations. But dork he is for saying that shit. By the way, nice lyricism.
