I love love love this song and the videography. Tom and Nova never disappoint. I did notice the auto tune, and feel like they made it work for this song. As you said, they don’t need it, so I just appreciated what I felt was the effect they were looking for. Appreciate your reaction

I resonate with this song, as I'm sure many other rebels will. The single shots of Tom and Nova on what appears to be the same black horse? Nova moves like she is actually riding, but Tom is very static, suggesting he is not used to being om a horse. I'd be happy to be wrong as I could easily see Tom riding the range like a true cowboy. Great song - love BFGF.

According to Wings of Pegasus, autotune is the status quo in the industry these days. Their obvious use of it reminds me of how Cher used it very obviously in Believe (1998) to change her voice into something else. In this case though, they've deployed it and catapulted their voices into..."something more". They've used it in other songs, but more for effect than for voice enhancement. Although I hadn't thought of it, you could be right in suggesting that this is them thumbing their noses at the establishment. I don't believe that either one of them really needs to autotune their voices; they just wanted to. Good reaction, thanks.

I think you’re right about the auto tune. When they did Bad News with Madchild, same thing. Heavy auto tune was on purpose to show he could use it and still sound good.

I always like your reactions. I click the like button as soon as the video starts. Since Nova is no longer bound to a contract with Def Jam, Tom and Nova are now able to go full tilt and work together to make albums. I like the use of auto-tune for specific affect. I thought it was used in this song a bit to much. I like their voice without auto-tune. I still liked the song even with the auto-tune, I just don't see the need to use it as much as they did. In the end, is was their artistic choice and I still liked the song.

My personal thoughts on the auto tune is that: 1) it is symbolizing how, a lot of the time, people (in relationships and life in general) are just (super)fake with moments of their true self coming through; 2) that these two have felt the need to hide their true selves at times and only able to be themselves for a small part of their time; 3) a combination, or neither, of the above.

The auto tune hit me right at the start. I'm not a fan of it. But I LOVE the song, anyway. The amount of auto tune was so distracting on the first listen that I had a hard time following the song. But, after listen to it several times, I've adjusted and can just enjoy the song.

This is my least favorite GFBF song. It's the only one I skill on the albums. I just can't with the jucky jucky. It's also way too much auto tune for my taste. So I was a bit sad that they have chosen this song to release with a video. But I love horses and the video is beautiful.
