Tom Mangelsen - Polar Play

In March of 2010, nature photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen traveled to Hudson Bay in northern Manitoba to photograph polar bears and their young emerging from their winter dens. Watch as these tiny, months-old cubs play and wrestle while their mother keeps a close eye on them from the den.

Mama bear babysits with her powerful sense of smell. My whole heart pray the babies get to grow up, thrive and remain far, far away from cruel, ego-driven and greedy men. May they find enough of their natural food. To think we could very well bring this beacon of wilderness to extinction is too gloomy to fathom. A very real possibility now that the actic is melted enough for commercial ships and oil companies are greedily lurking about.
