One of the best rock bassists of all time; keeps the low end ever present, plays like a rhythm guitarist, and is very creative inside of what would have otherwise been a typical rock bass sound in Cheap Trick. As a drummer or lead guitar player, who wouldn't want that kind of rhythm and sound right there with you...!

Tom Petersson is awesome! Master of the 12 string. That thing sounds amazing.

That 12-string sounds really thick and warm ... very nice. If I was a bass player, I'd want that setup.

Thank you so much for this awesome post! Huge fan of Cheap Trick,twelve string bass and of course Tom Petersson! I've waited about 25 years for a clip of him playing his riffs and solos.

You're welcome, Bingo. If you look at my channel there are a number of videos of Tom playing. One in particular is from Perth (Australia) where I was right in front of him as he played his solo. You get a good view of him playing. And as much as I try, I can't mimic it!
@bingolookup30718 жыл бұрын
I try to imitate his sound also. His style is so different than other bassists,I guess because of the 12 string. My other channel is porkrollsammy,I have a bunch of CT vids,but none with this good of Tom playing. Rock on!

I’ve always enjoyed Cheap Trick and Tom’s playing. That is such a beautiful 12 string bass. I also like Tom’s Chandler 12 string bass he used in the 90’s made in San Francisco

at the end he is with Andy Babiuk, formerly of The Chesterfield Kings, now with The Empty Hearts. Him and Tom are very good buddies, Tom and Rick would stop into the House of Guitars in Rochester, NY to see Andy whenever in WNY.

He also compiled an awesome book of Rolling Stones gear. I highly recommend to fellow Stones fans. It's freakin heavy too lol!

I saw Cheap Trick three different concerts in the Fox Theater in Atlanta back in the 70's. Best three concerts ever.

IDK for sure, but it has some likeness to "The Healer" by the Sweet - hey, that'd actually make for a great remake of that song....

She nice Trick’s debut... I was always wondering how they had such a full sound. Later I found out that Tom was using a 12 string bass. I was like.... they make those???? lol!!! Awesome bass player... truly. Listen to their debut... amazing what he plays.

Their record label in the 80's had no idea what they had in that band. They sent them down roads they shouldve never been forced to go down. Todd Rundgren got them and Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello wanted to produce them.

I love Tom and Cheap Trick but $ 16.000 dollars for this bass? my 800 euro 12 string bass sounds the same if not better!! What a rip off.

Ooh, which 12-string bass are you using, Ron?
@truckerkevthepaidtourist4 жыл бұрын
you have to remember Tom Peterson designed the 12-string bass for playing outside studio numbnuts. it's like anything else there's knockoffs in cheapo versions but if you want the real deal.. you better pony up 💰💰💰💰💰
@ronwesterduin24714 жыл бұрын
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist No, he did not design it. He thought of it and a instrument builder designed and built it. Get your facts straight.

ron, your cheaper 12 string will fall apart, this thing wont fall apart in a hundred years,forget a tank its built like an aircraft carrier
@ronwesterduin24714 жыл бұрын
@@rockhard2654 it's a hollow body guitar and it's actually very fragile, compared to a solid body bass.

Cool.... George Harrison's "Within You And Without You" played on a 12-string bass by a founding member of Cheap Trick.
