Great playing, great sounding instrument I would like to hear you do a song that is laid back trippy funk with a little bit of effects on the bass, slight lo-fi neo-soul hip hop a full song between 2.5-3 minutes maybe with some background vocals Something with no virtuoso stuff. That's the challenge. I think you could do it, write something with a groove so good it wouldn't need any virtuoso playing. To make it work maybe collaborate with producer, something with a great drum track on it and other supporting elements You underestimate your composing abilities. Also like your country playing I think you could have hit songs if you would collaborate with some vocalists and write the songs, maybe EP length mainly one style at a time, say 5--6 songs. If you prefer the technical direction I think the solo thing is good but it is limited Jaco had some of his best moments with Weather Report and Pat Metheny Playing with other great musicians elevates you . I would like to hear you collaborate with a drummer like Thomas Lang or the youtube drummer El Estepario Siberiano

Charles, I can’t begin to say how much I simply love the fact you’re playing a dUg Pinnick model 12-string. He and I used to play Hamer Chapparal USA 12s, but he got a deal. I have been very lucky to have opened for King’s X a few times when they were touring through NJ back in the 1990s. Such terrific people, incredible players and composers! I hope dUg gets to see his model 12 being used in a manner not thought of previously. Way to hit a hike run again! Yes, I KNOW how difficult physically it is to play a 12 and you’ve mastered it far beyond everyone. Look for me if you wish a the cover of 12-string Bassist magazine in 2007-2008. Dug is the man. Opened for King's X and Galactic Cowboys one night back in the '90s. The X guys showed up early enough for sound check and a hang out, and they couldn't have been cooler to us. We swarmed Dug because our bass player was a big fan, and he was all kinds of awesome. Super nice guy, thoughtful as can be.

For me Charles is hands down better than Davie 504. Davie is also insanely good but all he mostly play is slap as that is his preferred and expertise but Charles on the other hand more versatile and his instrumentals are all unique and different from the other which makes it so soothing to hear! And please don't even let me get started on his harmonics! He is just a different level beast!

Not to be all "well actually" on ya, but that was almost certainly a Hamer (which made 12 strings for Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick, who came up with the idea). Kramer, on the other hand, made plenty of 8-string basses in the 70s and early 80s; I've owned a couple and still have one that I'll never sell. But no 12s, I'm sure of that.
