Dolly covered this on the recent Petty tribute and it’s glorious. Fits her, fits him, works for both because it’s such a genuine song that’s a little defiant under that southern charm. And that’s how both of them are. Second favorite album for me behind Wildflowers.

🎼“I Won’t Back Down” or “Learning to Fly” are 2 of my favorites. I was born in Columbus, Ohio but have been in Alabama/Georgia and Florida since 1972… so I’m a Yankee married to a Southern Accent. I heard The Heartbreakers way back in 1973/74 in Gainesville, Florida at the University of Florida. Everybody loved Tom Petty. I mean EVERYBODY. We still do and always will.🎼☮️☯️💟

Benmont Tench’s piano lays the foundation for this song. Mike Campbell’s slide guitar is so tasty here. Both are phenomenal musicians who were with Petty from the beginning. I’m a Yankee who lived in Virginia for about 30 years, and Southern Accents is one of my favorite albums.

My wife and I are huge fans of Tom petty. My wife went to see him only once without me because she went with her sister. And that was as it turns out to be his last concert before he died 3 days later, which was in L. A. So of course, the T-shirt she bought when she was there became unbelievably special to her because of what happened 3 days after the concert. Without being said, this particular song is very low on our list of ones that we will listen to have listened to or whatever. But to add to that, we love everything he did and it was a good song to listen to because it in itself had Beautiful tunes, very Simple, something in certain moods you would prefer to Listen to than some of his other stuff.

Wonderful, Polo. RIP, Tom. I took my then 24 yo son to see Petty on his 40th Anniversary tour. A few months later, he was gone. I am so grateful for that experience. Now, as a Yankee, I do agree and own the fact that we up here tend to think of southerners as "dumb," by and large. But this is the wonder and magic of music. It crosses all of humanity. And despite the fact that I have a less-than-honorable attitude toward the south, I respect Tom for sticking up for himself. Gives me a different perspective. Thank you Tom, and we miss you.

I love that you chose this song. It's definitely in my life soundtrack, hailing from the same area of Florida. I love how everyone can relate to it, even if not Southern. But I have to say that being native to Petty's stomping grounds makes it beyond magical. "If them orange groves don't freeze..." Tom Petty was cool as hell. A Southern artist to be proud of when so many of them are so ugly.

You absolutely must react to the new video Dolly Parton just released of Southern Accents. It’s a tribute to Tom with a film, and iconic items of Tom’s that were lent by his wife. It’s absolutely beautiful. Dolly’s was the first single released from the tribute album Petty County: A Country Celebration of Tom Petty being released on the 31st. Besides Dolly, it includes Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton, The Heartbreakers, George Straits, and many others.

'Leader of the Band' hit me a little hard because of the "and I'm in Colorado, if I'm not in some cheap hotel" because my siblings refused to make the effort to come for a visit because it was "so far away". They'd annually spend thousands of dollars to go to Disney World, but they they thought that driving/flying to Denver was "too much" of an expenditure.

Art is Art after all, right! 😊 So if you are open to other genres then may I request you for a reaction to 'COME BACK TO ME', the latest Indie single by Rapper, Singer, songwriter RM. The music video itself is a whole Cinematic treat to watch! Directed by Emmy awardee director-writer Lee Sung Jin. The song has already broke records within 24 hrs of release debuting at #1 on worlwide itunes chart as well as it was #1 on Trending videos on KZbin gathering critical acclaim too. I'd really appreciate if you would react to the song. His new album Right Place Wrong Person, is releasing on May 24th. And yes, I wish you all the best for your channel :) ❤
