One of my favourite Americans. Tom Petty was a national treasure, representing the US ideals of the last decades with many of his lyrical themes. Shoukd have given him every prize in the book.

What's even crazier is how rough of a place Tom was at that point with heroin and his divorce and he was still that productive.

He came up with Wildflowers from nowhere, instantly, Rick Rubin said that he saw Tom do it many times.

Sadly we've been losing all the great creative song writers, singers and musicians. Thankfully they've recorded a lot in their lifetimes. Hopefully, the music industry gets back to what it was and should be.

thanks for this - such a simple and humble man - he seemed reluctant, and then amazed, at his own musical genius. He journeyed from an abusive childhood to a man loved by thousands ..."Walls" ... seems almost autobiographical. Bless you Tom.

Marty Dixon soooo well said❤️

hey Kimberly - I'm an astrologer and the more research I do, it seems that he was a faithful light of inspiration to those who surrounded him. I can't imagine what his family & friends are going thru, but it seems like they're trying to heal, reach out to others, and educate about opioid overuse (how many musicians have we lost to this?). interesting that there's a simple candle at the beginning of this video, "... another 'round for everyone, I'm here for a little while..."
@kimberlybellefontaine12157 жыл бұрын
Marty Dixon he was amazing, wasn’t he? Pure and simple. He’s not the first of us who’s used opiates to deal with long-term physical pain (have you ever had a broken hip?? OMG, the pain....!). The fact that he also used a fentanyl patch (VERY powerful) along with some anti anxiety medication, etc. obviously didn’t help in the long run :(. I have no questions in my mind - Tom was not purposely “abusing.” I think he took painkillers to help him finish out his tour (for his fans, of course). His life was beautiful, he was happy and in a good place. It’s just so very, very unfortunate he was taken from us way too soon. Sooner than any of us were ready to let him go. God rest his beautiful soul.....and God bless his loved ones left behind and all those of us who loved him🙏🏻❤️

This was so awesome. I didn’t see this movie. Now I must track it down. Hunt it down to watch it. I love those songs. He was such a genius. Writing a score for a movie. You can see how proud he is at the end. I would have been that violin player who couldn’t keep her eyes off him. He looks so damn good here. Miss him forever.

This is truly amazing footage. Possibly my favorite album by them. And they had only 1 month, thats crazy! So, from what i've read, this was around the time when Tom played a role in the box office bomb, "The Postman". Also, i think this was just before (or during) his heroin usage. On top of that, this movie bombed as well as the album. Ouch! But, I liked seeing Howie jamin' here, always a cig in his mouth. Was hoping to see Steve playing some drums on "California". Mike and Ben don't look very happy, especially Mike. Maybe they're just exhausted, like that cello player 08:02 - haha she could barely keep her eyes open. I still have yet to see this movie, it doesn't look very good to me. Although, Ed burns did make a decent film called "Ash Wednesday", check that out if you like his work. My favorite song off the album has to be "Supernatural Radio". So underrated and Mike goes insane at the end of it, elevating up into the sky with such intensity to the point where "you can hear Jesus singing" and then the sudden decent back down to the ground. Probably the second best ending to one of their songs with "Running Down a Dream" being the best - imho. Very happy to see them practicing that song here. Wow, thanks for sharing this.

Could be the fact that this is considered a Heartbreakers album but Wildflowers is not, yet they all play on both, don't get me wrong, I'm sure they've all made tons of money, but that probably pissed the guys off, and then of course the subsequent tour after whichever album would be billed as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, so.....
