@@myversionoftruthMike Mentzer is a guy trying to be different and a bitter one at that. I’m forever grateful dude lost in 1980. His ‘training philosophy’ reflects itself in his reaction to it… completely giving up and breaking down. I know one’s things for sure.. Arnold would never have done that. That’s what you get for being weak minded. Now idiots actually cult follow Mike, it’s crazy
@Coalemos4 ай бұрын
@@myversionoftruthhe was a pioneer but his 1 set ideology was wrong. There are numerous studies showing this. It doesn't mean you have to do 10 sets but 1 just isn't enough apparently. I started working out from home with just a bar and I had no idea what I was doing. I still did pretty well despite that. I had to take time off and during that time I came across Mentzer's stuff. I thought when I get back to it I'll do that, 1 set to failure high intensity training. I even had it in mind when I joined the gym. Then I found out it's wrong and studies show this. I do 3 sets and recently added myoreps in. I can't believe the results. I'm still in newbie gains territory because I'm working muscles I've never hit before. Mike seemed like a good guy with good ideas for his time.
@DeDieuAntique4 ай бұрын
@Coalemos Actually, one set that takes 3 minutes will do more than a 5x5 or 3x8 etc. Most people respond well to intensity. Trying to do one set of squats of 20 reps when your tank is empty at 10 reps, will build you up faster, denser, and mentally prepare you for a lifetime of lifting. You have to sit there with the bar enduring the weight until you decide to descend. Time under tension does a lot for you. Just because it's too intense for most, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Plenty of studies contradict each other. It depends on the methods of the study, the participants, and the honesty of those involved. Myoreps are amazing.
@Coalemos4 ай бұрын
@@DeDieuAntique oh I'm all for time under tension, absolutely brutal and I love it. I'm going to stick with 3 sets though and more even for certain muscles. I'm going to failure as often as is possible on exercises that allow it (which is about 90%) and I'm still getting used to certain movements so multiple sets works for me. I asked 2 PTs about myoreps and one told me to stick to the basics that it's for advanced lifters who plateau. F that! I'm going to do everything I can to ensure failure or honestly what's the point? I see so many guys just going through the motions using equipment and not pushing, I don't see the point in that, do it or don't. Today was legs and I could hardly walk and I absolutely loved it.

The industry hated Mike for preaching you don't need to obsess over working. He stated you don't need steroids, a gym, or your whole life dedicated to spending money to workout. That goes against what these mainstream pimps want their hos to promote. If you think the industry cares about you, you're probably being pimped out to spend money on their man made drugs. Mike promoted to workout healthy and spend the rest of your time with family and learning. That's why the industry constantly trys to discredit him. He didn't do what they wanted like Arnold and many others to keep yall self absorbed and hooked on drugs. Wake up. They literally have most convinced if you are strong, ripped, and or stacked that you have to be on something. I've seen guys as big as body builders without steroids or any enhancements, just proper training, rest, and food. Convince the people what GOD gave them isn't good enough and pump them full of ego and chemicals. I've gotten so big myself personally that everyone thought I was on something....never have, never will. Through GOD all things are possible when you're willing to do the work. Our strength comes from YAHWEH. Work hard and pray harder with GOD all is possible. Stop supporting criminals that pimp you out on pharma and ego. Work hard and love your family. Time here is short. Live everyday like that's it.

Interesting choice of works, claiming others "pumped themselves out" when Methzer literally pumped himself out to Gay men for drug money. Speaking of, also interesting you bring up "they want you on drugs" considering Methzer was a hardcore tweaker strung out on meth, who would drink his own piss because he was convinced it was Anabolic.

Amphetamines always have been a great ped for the last 100 years. Energy to get out of bed and start your day, to train intensely, to get by on lower calories etc.

All I think of when you say bodybuilder is drug user as they all did steroids that’s why so many of them are dead. What makes me irritated with them . Was as a 13 year old kid who looked up to them worked out 3 hr a day 4 days a week and never got to be massive.so I finally just gave up on it in my 20s that was when all the steroids us was coming to lite .

Most people think they'll blow up if they start lifting, it's not true. It takes years to be a natural body builder.
@Matt-lf9nn4 ай бұрын
Despite the drugs, enhanced bodybuilders still put in tons of work for their physique. I was the same way, 13 and thinking everyone naturally got to an unnatural physique. The biggest thing about bodybuilding is to be happy with your own progress rather than comparing yourself to other people with different genetic makeups than you.

I hear good things about Mentzer’s training advice, but didn’t he and his brother take meth as pre-workout at some point? 😂 I swear I read that somewhere and that’s how his brother died or something like that. Crazy stuff.
@anothersamsulekenjoyer4 ай бұрын
his pre workout was ampethamine which was prescribed by his doctor. it's a substance used to enhance your focus and usually given to kids with adhd. his rivals at that time were literally illiterate and confused ampethamine with meth lol. it's said that the mentzer brothers died from genetic heart attacks. i felt bad for him after clearly reading everything about him.

I believe when you know your right but yet everyone laughs at you it has an affect on you mentally. Over the years it probably broke him. Its stressful and it can make people withdrawn. I know! I don’t think he wanted so much the love but the recognition for his work and his studies. Which we all know he deserved that atleast. Just my opinion 👍
