“Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.” So beautifully said.
@tub4977 Жыл бұрын
This quote highlights the importance of being ready for opportunities and taking action, rather than waiting for luck to happen. It suggests that luck is something that can be created by being prepared, and that the more prepared an individual is, the more luck they will have. It also implies that luck is something that is created by a combination of factors, including preparation, hard work, and the ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities when they arise. In summary, the quote "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" means that luck is not something that just happens, but it is the result of the combination of being prepared and taking the right actions at the right time, when an opportunity arises.

It is hard to predict exactly how Tom Platz training David Goggins would have turned out, but it's likely that it would have been an intense and challenging experience for both of them. Tom Platz, who was known as "The Golden Eagle" for his impressive leg development and squatting ability, was known for his intense and demanding training style. David Goggins, who is a retired Navy SEAL, is also known for his intense training and his ability to push beyond his limits. If Tom Platz trained David Goggins, it's likely that the focus would have been on building strength and power in Goggins' legs, specifically targeting quadriceps and hamstrings, using exercises like squats and deadlifts. Goggins, who is known for his endurance, could have benefited from Platz's high-volume and high-intensity approach to training. Additionally, Tom Platz was also known for his focus on bodybuilding, so it's likely that Goggins would have also been exposed to different bodybuilding techniques such as progressive overload, drop sets, and supersets to increase muscle mass and definition. It's also likely that Tom Platz would have pushed Goggins to his limits, both physically and mentally, and Goggins would have had to dig deep to keep up with Platz's intense training style. But, if Goggins had been able to rise to the challenge, he could have come out of the experience with even more strength and power than he had before.

42 years ago, I first came across Tom Platz on the front of Muscle and fitness. There was an in-depth article about his rise through the late 70s upto 1982/3 like he’d already had a meteoric career whilst still in his 20s. I was 18 years old, totally naive and looking to ‘man myself up’. Tom Platz, BertIl Fox, Sergio Oliva, Serge Nubret, we’re huge inspirations. Bodybuilding and weight training was just getting into gear as a serious high octane activity just as the fitness boom exploded throughout the 1980s, Jane Fonda workouts etc… I never thought 4 decades later I’d be watching the now legendary Tom Platz influence the younger generation like this. He’s a very good man, of brilliant character. We are lucky to have one of the few men from that golden 70s era still with us. He’s a genuine old schooler, famous then as he is now, appeared on British TV talk shows in the 80s, that never happened with other bodybuilders unless they were making waves in Hollywood. He’s a living legend, let’s celebrate that 🙏🏽

Dorian was different. (I've watched Dorian train at my gym at the time, in '96, and I know Tom Platz.) Both styles are incredibly painful. But much, much different. Who was crazier and willing to walk up to the edge of training death? Tom was. Who figured out how to train to be huge and dominate his sport while doing ONE brutal high intensity death drop set to failure and beyond set per exercise, and move on to the next ? Dorian. He was Incredible. Both are great masters. But no one can surpass Tom with the mastery and his own religion of head trip/psychology with high intensity squatting/leg training. There will never be another Tom Platz.
