Thank you for this lesson - it's a 'patient' approach to legato which some of us sorely needed 👍

I'm a new subscriber to your channel and what I like the most (besides your very, very good playing of course!) is, that you seem to stay on the ground and don't do all that self-profiling goofy stuff that many others do. Most guitar channels I cannot stand anymore. You seem to be a nice and humble guy who knows what he's talking about and you have interesting content. Keep it up and thank you for your work!

Nice little lick. It's a bit more comfortable to play if you slide from the 7th to the 8th on the G string after using the ring finger and little finger to play the 7 and 8 on the D string.

Great lick, thanks very much! I agree that Quayle is a monster. Quick question, if C Dorian is in the parent key of Bb, why is the Eb key signature shown in the picture ? I might have missed something...

Nice lesson and thanks for the details on the notes that are being used, though I would also suggest you focusing on the timing of the notes per bar. I know the tab is shown though there is a bit of a confusion with where the accents drop on the metronome. Since there is chromaticism, the division of the notes per bar is a bit difficult to get used to 😅

Thanks for the video, but just in relation to 2:18, when you say you're starting on one note lower, is that not a Bb major scale, not a B major scale?

Is it really necessary to pick with plectrum and middle finger? For the moment that complicates it for me. Nice lesson by the way!

Just curious why the notation is shown in Ab Major key signature instead of Bb an then you just added natural notation to each Ab note which is all in key for C Dorian/Bb Ionian. Please let me know if I am missing something. Thanks

good lesson, thoughts on the new axe-fx 3? I'm thinking about getting the axe-2 when the 3 comes out, since it'll be cheaper. Just wondering if it's worth the money to skip the axe-2 and just get the axe-fx 3.

At 6.25 Ross, would it be right that you are going from aeolian to Dorian?Over a static minor 7th chord this sounds ok
@daynenichols37457 жыл бұрын
frannyp46 glad someone said it! Thanks dude. The Ab makes the 6th interval flat which then makes the intervals match the major MODE of Aeolian. It becomes C Aeolian which is the 6th mode in Eb major :)

Idk if i missed it in the vid but why do you need the finger pick? Tom Q's style I'm guessing ? (I've not actually given the guy a listen yet)
@RossCampbellGuitarist7 жыл бұрын
Liam Hanley Tom tends to use a combination of pick and fingers for his legato technique.

Good lick. I find the picking method totally unnecessary for it. Just using the pick is fine and actually makes it sound more legato without any accented "bumps" that the finger picking might cause.

Awesome tribute to the master Tom! Perhaps the video could be a bit shorter though. I don't think the kinda players ready for this stuff need to be explained what the Dorian scale is, since it will be mostly advanced players. Now the video to me personally felt a bit boring and too long. Just show the techniques if neccesary, but the tab is pretty much self explanatory. Nonetheless, great job!

Nice video, but to me, your lick sounds more like an F Mixolydian that resolves to Bb Major Bebop. Bye
