If I’m gonna guess, I think the reason why the Triple Trouble Cover Song is called “War of Whiskers” because it is a reference to the game “Tom and Jerry: War of the Whiskers” and because the characters in the song were in the original game (Not the EXE versions, but the actual characters in their normal versions)

Tuffy or Nibbles is actually Jerry's nephew. His name varies in certain episodes, but I think Nibbles was an old name and he was renamed Tuffy since the Mousketeer episodes.

Tuffy is Jerry’s nephew, was revealed in a thanksgiving type letter which tuffy came with to the house, where Jerry’s cousin asked Jerry to look after tuffy as a favor. Jerrey’s beother/cousin was revealed in an episode as a gangster mouse type charachter who helped jerry with Tom.

About how tuffy is Jerry's son. In one of the episodes (don't remember which one) Jerry gets a knock on his door and finds tuffy swaddled up in those baby baskets in movies. So he's adopted.
