Seriously, it's just an endless DELUGE of games being released. My Facebook news feed has determined that I'm interested in board games and 3/4ths of the ads are Gamefound or Kickstarters, and it's all games I've never heard of until that ad, and all of them look incredibly competently produced (ie, not identifiable as a dud just by looking at it). I think I might just need to shut off the game news spigot for a year or two and then when I come up for air, see what has gotten actual traction. It's just overwhelming.

I miss the days when there were a handful of new games I wanted to try each year because I already owned the most widely liked games. Now every month they are releasing more games that I can play in a year. There's no way this can keep up.

The Carcassonne big box looks like a repackage of the current one. The expansions are the same and the artwork doesn't look like the update in the anniversary edition.

played verdant last week. Might be better than cascadia. It's not as family friendly though so it doesn't replace it

We've also been playing Verdant (btw, accent on the first syllable, Mr. Vassel) and enjoying it a lot. We worked in the bonus objectives and now need to add the Kickstarter bonus cards.
