love your observations! new to your channel... amk and Giant Rooks are very talented bands that have been around for a bit. AMK sings predominantly in German and are pretty huge in Germany (check them out though, they are so worth it). GR are singing in English (also being a German band). Just been to a concert by them and they will be only getting bigger. Both bands are brilliant live performers. This video was done 5 years ago or so when GR was opening for AMK and I heard somewhere they did this recording after one of their concerts...

The guy with the raspy voice is Henning from Annenmaykantereit. He sings in Engkish and mostly German. You might enjoy "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen" (Proberaum Session), but they have a lot of great Songs, for example "Ozean". Thanks for your really nice reaction❤Love from Germany

Giant Rooks and AMK are from Germany. They have been around for over 10 years. AMK usually sing in german and Giant Rooks in english. Check them out :)

You really should try a) more Henning May's english covers (there's a lot of them going around) and b) AnnenMayKantereit as a band. I promise, it's totally worth it! And funny that you happened to mention Ren - he is actually a fan of theirs. So if you like Ren, you definitely should try these guys out. The key word is authenticity, which these guys are. They're originally street musicians and go waaaaaay back to 2011. There's still some clips going around from that time, they are so young & AWESOME even back then! Thanks for this reaction!!!!

Although you are a little late to the game, as the video went viral on TikTok about one or two years ago, after it was originally released on youtube in June 2019. For about a year now, reacting to this cover has almost become its own "genre" on youtube, as there are already quite a few reactions to this video. And I have to say that I really enjoy all these reactions, because there inevitably comes the moment when Henning May, the second singer, the one with the deep, raspy voice, starts to sing, and you witness various expressions of surprise, delight, and amazement from those reacting. This cover of an old Suzanne Vega song from 1987 was a spontaneous gig of two German bands, AnnenMayKantereit and Giant Rooks, who toured together through Germany back in early 2019. This video was made after one of their concerts. Giant Rooks from Hamm are the band in the second room. Their singer is the young man with the higher voice and slightly longer hair, Frederik Rabe, who was 23 years old at the time of this recording. AnnenMayKantereit from Cologne are initially the band in the first room (later they join the Rooks in the second room). Their singer is Henning May, the guy with the deep, soulful voice, who was 27 years old at the time, although he looks a little younger. Today, at 32, he still has his boyish charm. The band's name is pronounced something like "unnen - my - kunterite" (to avoid the somewhat obscene "c"). It is made up of the names of the three core and founding members Christopher Annen, Henning May and Severin Kantereit. German reactors often feel the obligation to be “critical” about what they react to, often becoming cynical or making fun of their subject. I enjoy you American (or in your case: Canadian) reactors much more, as you seem to be much more “naive” in a good sense, i.e. open, honest and appreciative. When you encounter something that's beautiful and felicitous like this cover song, you truly and honestly acknowledge and enjoy it. That's so refreshing! Thank you. I'm a big fan of AnnenMayKantereit (AMK for short) and Henning May. They've done some really nice English language covers together with various other talented bands. (AMK seem to attract other talents like magnets, like trumpeter Ferdinand Schwarz or the guys who shot and recorded the video). If you want to hear and see some very good in medieval metal style, you should react to Saltatio Mortis to songs like" My mother told me ", "The dragonborn comes" or "Pray to the hunter " another good band this style is "Feuerschwanz " with songs like Metfest or the new one in english "Highlander"

AMK (AnnenMayKantereit) is a German Indie-Rock Band, foundet in Cologne, Germany. My home Town by the way. The Name of the Band contains the surnames of the 3 founding members: Christopher Annen (Guitar), Henning May (Guitar/Piano/Vocals) und Severin Kantereit (Drums). I would love to see further reactions from you. What I really can recomment is one of there live performances from the Concerts in Berlin or Cologne. My favs are: "Lass es kreisen" which is a post covid song, or: "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen". Both are available on youtube and for both there should be english lyrics available. If you like to have Hennings raspy voice maximum exposed there is a further Englisch song: "sometimes I like to lie". This is pure fire! Love your reaction. The 2nd singer is Henning May and his band ANNENMAYKANTEREIT the last names of the founding members. They we're in the 😮1st room. Fred Rame 1st singer band is zGiabt Rooks who were in 2nd room. Hen ing voice is the best Ive heard since the 1990s.
