I was accelerating hard down a freeway on-ramp in my Ferrari 308 GT4 when there was the sound like a huge sheet of tearing canvas. It was not my gearbox shredding but the sound made by the V12 of a yellow Daytona as it sped past me like I was standing still.

A great video as always 🙂 I’d just like to say that whoever set up the in-car side view camera did a brilliant job. Being able to see a full view of you driving the car is a nice change from the typical KZbin car vids where the camera is tight to the driver’s upper body and face. Being able to see the full interior view, the gear stick etc really makes me feel like I’m in the car with you and adds a lot to the viewing experience. Very well done And what a gorgeous car 🤤

Tom I think your stock is amazing but you are a very smart, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It would be hard to not buy from you. I sold family cars for 25 years and had a similar mind set. I loved it. I used to feel special in a D plate Supra, with knackered tyres. Your cars look great and I like the fact you are prepared to get the cars perfect for the next owner. You should have placed more audio in the video. That Daytona sounds phenomenal.

Having had the pleasure of driving a Daytona over the Brecon Beacons a decade ago - I can vouch for need for the power steering upgrade - once up to speed it was absolutely fine, but for parking and low speed manoeuvres it was positively truck like. Glorious machines - and what a peach of an example. 👍

@johntechwriter3 жыл бұрын
Tom won’t need to hit the snooze button because the outrageous price he is going to ask for the car will keep him awake nights worrying he might have overplayed his hand. (I think he’s made a safe bet. Among the super-rich these days, rarity and originality are worth a huge premium on an already valuable car that seems poised for a big jump in demand among the fashionistas.)

Superb presentation by all measures. Every boomers' fantasy dream car. Especially as I recall R&T testing saw 172mph. The E-Type was truly 145 out-of-the box, Bolster saw 151mph in the near contemporary DB6 Vantage by way of comparisons. It would be 20 years beyond the Daytona release the 928S4 would achieve 171mph in manual form. Daytona was mega-still is!
@roadie31243 жыл бұрын
What a stunningly beautiful car, and well done for presenting it so well. I've had a "thing" about Daytonas since I saw one on Prova plates in 1967 or 1968 near Modena in northern Italy. If you put a rational hat on, the there are many modern cars that are faster, have better handling and are much more economical. But it's not about being rational when thinking about a car like this. Emotions take over, which is how it should be.

The guy who painted the car Rosso deserved a slap and a choice few words. Herb Chambers had the right idea when he had Wayne Carrini finish his Spyder and Coupé in a stunning colour similar to the car in the video, but the colour Herb’s had, had a tint of orange and gold to the brown haze too. The episode of “Chasing classic cars” were Herb goes to see his old Daytona, that nearly cost him his life is on KZbin. It’s a good watch, to someone, see and re-engage with a passed owned car.

Including the drive has made already exciting videos even better. I am by no means an expert but have seen my fair share of Daytona's; never seen one without a gated shifter. Ferrari's where fairly bespoke back then, it must have been a customer opt out. Interesting.

What a beautiful car. I’m 71 and with greatest respect to Ferrari so many of them now look like expensive kit cars. The Daytona is a car that has to be driven and not raced. My first pick if I win the lottery! My granddaughter once said if the speed limit (in the UK) is 70mph why do they have cars that can do 200mph.? Female logic at work ! And I didn’t have a sensible answer !!!

That. Is. Exquisite.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to change the colour of this car, it's perfect. I'm given to understand that Ferrari Daytonas are not a great drive, but with only 21,000 odd miles on the clock, I don't suppose it will see much of the rain and grime out on the streets; personally, I would be happy just to look at it, and as it's probably going to have to sell nearer the £1 million mark than £500,000, that's probably just as well.
