It makes no diffference who leads the self-servatives, they arent getting their hands back on the levers of power for at least 2 more terms and even then we wont forget what they have done.

'We' won't forget? England is prone to voting right even if what they are voting for is largely against the interests of most. Two terms may turn out as much as the population will punish them for, if that. Especially if labour can't rebuild the country in that amount of time.

Career politician, did nothing (or very little) as MP for Tonbridge & Malling. Absentee landlord....

My God! I'd forgotten how much these legacy media products of establishment mis-education can talk for so long and say so little that's relevant to people today. In the context of major ongoing downward spirals of living standards and hope for the future, these people look like they come from another planet.

Errrr - what are Times Radio smoking these days? Tugendhat was part of the Cameroon intake - he is as far a Tory as they come, and don't forget also a massive remainer. This is just him vying for the leadership.

I’m not so keen on tugendhat but if he becomes a little more moderate I’d be tempted to vote for him I like the idea of him in opposition as his foreign policy issues for example with China would be good to force labour to focus on it, he probably is also capable of winning over some reform voters too

On Radio 4 this morning he came across as the most cliché politician imaginable. Lots of words, nothing said. When asked repeated yes or no questions, would not commit to a single syllable. He's a waste of time.

Common sense to leave ECHR....?? My red line. Cannot support anyone who wants to diminish UKs international reputation. Conservative following US MAGA style - is verythin the UK really does not need.

Why do we need Europeans to tell us about human rights? Most European countries were fascist or absolute monarchies until very recently.

If I am to steelman the argument for leaving the ECHR, what is meant is that the ECHR hinders countries’ ability to tackle topics like immigration especially illegal immigration. So imagine you had an issue with illegal immigrants who were causing a massive issue in your country and when you try and do something about it, someone tells you “nah you can’t do anything about it or else it’ll make the illegal immigrants causing all kinds of trouble scared and sad”.

Tugendhat will say what he needs to say to become leader of the Tories that doesn't mean he intends doing it. All the possible leaders are leftovers from the Tories that helped the party to its biggest defeat in decades.

For me, personally there are 6 realistic candidates for to become the next Conservative leader. Three are men, Three are female. The men are : Cleverly, Tugenhat and Jenrick. The women: Badenoch, Braverman & Patel I hope that neither Braverman nor Patel get the job, I don't really want TT for the men to be considered. Badenoch, Cleverley or Jenrick, okay but whoever gets it is really just cannon fodder for Starmer and Co.

Tugendhat is about as Trumpian as Starmer. He has zero intention of leaving the ECHR. FFS he even looks like Starmer. The poxy NHS glasses, the man's a joke.
