Tom Waits is hands down one of my favorite performers to ever lurk from the shadows. I’ve been obsessed with him since I was 8. My aunt gave me his album Nighthawks at the Diner for my 16th birthday that she got for her 16th birthday. He’s so eclectic and unusual but genius more than most.

Yes Tom Waits! A little more of him is what we need. "Eggs and Sausage" "Small Change", "Heart Attack and Vine", "Shore Leave", "Diamonds on My Windshield", "Way Down in the Hole(LIVE)", "St Christopher LIVE", "Nocturnal Emission Pt 1", "Blue Valentine", "Romeo is Bleeding" "Going Out West", "Such a Scream" to name only a few.....

I went to a Tom Waits concert in Boston in around '98 or '99 on this tour - Beacon Theater. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen. No one performs like Tom Waits! He started the show with the band on the stage, and he came through the lobby doors in to the theater with that megaphone and pockets full of glitter he would toss as he made his way to the stage. I laughed and laughed at his sillines, I cried at his most beautiful heartwrenching songs, I stood transfixed throughout. I was so amazingly broke and in debt at that point in my life, but I am so glad I went even further in to debt to score a ticket! Ended up declaring bankruptcy a couple months later anyway - should have charged a BUNCH more shows! LOL!

Tom Waits has been a favorite of mine since 78' Just love his voice his work is wonderful. Big Joe and phantom 309 one of my all time favs

Not only one of my favorite songs, but just the brilliance that very few might have ever thought of, using the megaphone to sing into the mic. Right up there with his percussion mania like taking a dumpster, hanging six bits of sheet metal in it and hitting it with a sledgehammer. Love him!

The Tom Waits rabbit hole is deep, dark, challenging, and ultimately satisfying. Musically, Tom is a genre unto himself, one of, if not, the best storytellers ever. Also gives some amazing interviews and is a great actor. One of my all time favourite people.

Tom waits is my absolute musical favourite, and if anyone hasnt seen him act hes genius (7 pshycopaths) with sam rockwell, excellent. And musically just watch any of his many live sessions on the dave letterman show. Tom waits was asked to perform on dave letterman show more than any other act. And on his last ever show Tom sang..... Take one last look. Check it out.

"Heart of Saturday Night", "Fumblin' with the Blues", "I Never Talk to Strangers" are some of my favorites, but I am a hard core Waits fan and love most anything he does. Anything off of Rain Dogs c/d.....its his lyrics and dissonant musical style.

The whole time you were saying he had to raise the mic stand, I was thinking, "No, not really!" Leave it to Tom to break out the megaphone to sing a song. The great thing about that too, is that he started doing that stuff just when CDs were peaking in popularity, and everyone was looking for cleaner and clearer sound. In his usual fashion, Tom went the opposite direction and muddied up his sound even more!

My favorite lyric from this song, that may or may not get through from this performance, has to be: When the weather gets rough and it's whiskey in the shade It's best to wrap your savior up in cellophane He flows like the big muddy but that's okay Pour him over ice cream for a nice parfait

As weird, eccentric, and wonderful as most Tom Waits songs are, this man wrote a song I insist be played at my funeral. Look up "Shiver Me Timbers". It's a 'weird' song for him because it's rather straight forward and very beautiful... but beyond that, I'd suggest anything by Tom Waits. Not a suggestion for your channel, but rather a suggestion for any and all Waits fans, watch the film Smoke. The movie ends with "Auggie's Christmas Story" during the credits with Tom Waits' "Innocent When You Dream" playing throughout. Great film with a fantastic ending.
