The way I see it, dirty air is inevitable. As the engineers fine tune the aero to generate the best performance possible, the more dirty air will come into play. To be honest, I'm not convinced the current regs eliminated dirty air as much as hoped anyway.
@MrWuffels2 күн бұрын
of course it cannot be completely inevitable, as dirty air (and drag) is always a side effect from downforce ... or any mass anyways. However, Aero can be produced efficient to produce the least amount of dirty air possible. The current regs really eliminated a lot of dirty air, especially at the beginning. While dirty air has gotten worse since then again, it's still far off what it was before. The problem are the tires

I really dont understand the 2026 regs. 2022 introduced groud effect but now its going after 4 years. The wings, floor and wings are getting smaller, so theyre going to be a lot slower. A push to pass button which is going to be used for defence so less overtakes anyway. Imo its just going backwards. Mordern cars now are actually becoming quicker than the 2020 cars because of the R&D to the ground effect but now its all leaving for a slight reduction in size Really dont think its worth it
@Chuckl3gl3rg4 күн бұрын
@giantwaddles9478 I heard that the cars will be an inwash concept, more so than the 22 regs, so less dirty air theoretically, the push to pass is only accessible to the car behind when 1 second behind I think, so similar to drs, and will only give a boost up to 337 kmh, as using the battery as normal it gradually tapers of the piwer agter 290 kmh or something, and the use of synthetic fuels as stated by domenicali opens up the door for a non hybrid v8 future. But time will tell if the engineers find loopholes and also race management is an unknown, as the battery stores 3 times rhe power but they can only recover twice as much as now

@@calvinallan2208 i believe hybrid engines were introduced by FIA not because their own desire but because of car manufacturers wanting to promote hybrid engines as the concept so they can sell their road cars with hybrid engines more effectively. And if you want to take this further, car manufacturers are being pushed into building hybrid or ev cars to be ecological by governments of European countries and USA. FIA just playing their role in this circus.

I dont think dirty air will change as much. i feel that having a smaller car is gonna make it more battling rather than just overtaking. The track is gonna feel much bigger, and less space is being used, meaning switch backs are gonna be easier, and with less downforce and more potential top speed, we should see way more battles
@VipapkStudiosOfficial2 күн бұрын
Even if corners are going to be harder to make, I think I prefer that. I'm not saying this because I like the looks of the new car, which I of course do, but it would extract the absolute best out of a driver to take the corner as skillful as possible, and we may see different racing lines. Very 80s-00s like. Remember Senna taking that corner in Monza, which was very different from other drivers? Yes, exactly that is what I have in mind. I could be wrong, but it would be absolutely amazing! Especially if F1's promise to bring loud exhausts back is true, we're in of one of the best Formula 1 seasons in forever since the introduction of V6! This season 2024 was absolutely incredible in every way possible, next year is going to be even more epic, and then the year after there's 2026 with literally EVERYTHING! :)

If I understand rules properly the override mode (the thing you call push to pass) will be only available in certain zones if you are within one second (basically like today's DRS but it's done by ERS) and X mode will not have effect on overtaking as it will be available to all drivers in all zones at all times (unless disabled for weather) so it is not for better racing but better aero efficiency
@MatusP915 күн бұрын
And I remember reading them if you have override mode you will be allowed to harvest more energy so it shouldn't be so reliant on your charge
@reisspower62415 күн бұрын
@MatusP91 pretty sure override can be used at any point through the lap as long as you're within a second of the car in front likely by some detection zone (probably start/finish line) and then yeah x mode can be used regardless of driver in front because otherwise the cars would be significantly slower than the current f1 cars due to less average power from the new engines. X wings will also likely make slipstreaming much less powerful with much less drag
@RockSolitude2 күн бұрын
You forgot to mention the fact that the cars have 50% less power than the 2024 cars.

So we are basically getting a nitrous when we are 1s behind the car in front? Granted if the battery can keep up in a 300km race
@olevareee37425 күн бұрын
I feel like people forget they START at 2-4 seconds slower. The teams develop them and create more downforce and less lap time. How does anyone think formula 1 made downforce before ground effect
@giantwaddles94785 күн бұрын
The problem is the size and engine changes They won't be anywhere near as able to generate downforce like they do on modern cars because it's a smaller platform and it also means the floor will be less valuable and the engine won't have as much power so they will most likely not be anywhere near modern cars

Special "drs zones" for the kunos tracks are included with the mod. Then you can use the full potential of the aero mode.

My fanatec wheel base was not reading my pedals, it turned out I had caught the cable and slightly jarred one of the contact pins , Logitech put a piece of plastic that you can wrap the cables around to protect the contacts, why Fanatec don't do that is beyond me , I bought a new cable now it's working .Those pins only have to be out by a tiny fraction and they won't work . I have taped down the cables to make sure I can't pull them again .

In my opinion I reckon they should restart the cars and start from the 2018 type cars and give the teams free reign for 1-2 years and develop from there. But they have a base car to make upgrades from so it’ll technically be an equal cars for all but then the teams can develop all they want

@srthebox4946Күн бұрын
Why 2018? There were like 40-50 second gaps between cars in that era because the dirty air made it impossible for cars to follow eachother closely, Drivers like Max and Lewis would occasionally lap every car up to like 5th-3rd place, it was ridiculous. If we follow your idea, we’d get high downforce monsters that look cool in a quali lap but cant race for shit and cant follow eachother at all without completely decimating their tyres.

I thought 2026 car only have 6 gears?
@l_poci_5 күн бұрын
Why would they? F1 hasnt had 6 gears for 20 odd years, why would they go back. Completely counter intuitive. Check the sources of wherever you read that
@michaelgdupreez5 күн бұрын
Yes you are correct. 2026 cars are going to have 6 gears. The reason for this is to have the engines rev higher, so that fuel burning is used to charge the batteries. This is why Adrian Newey stated that they will be going around the hairpin in Monaco at High revs so that it charges the battery. This will in turn also make the F1 2026 engines sound better as well. In theory this will introduce turbo lag but at the same time, turbo lag won't be a thing due to the increase in power from the MGU-K which will cancel that. But this will be interesting too, as stated in the regulations that the MGU-K can only kick in from 80kph onwards. The driving style for these new cars will be similar to the turbo cars of the 80's, where you will want to keep the revs high

They just updated the regs for the 2026 to make them faster and they are about 2-4 seconds slower than the 2022(!) cars. They would be much slower than the 2024 cars (they would've been 8 seconds slower than the 2022 cars before). I don't understand how quarter a century older cars can be faster than today's top, it's just so embarrassing, another thing is why the engines don't have AT LEAST 1200 hp or something more like 1500hp? Today's normal luxury saloon sedan that are less than 20X a formula 1 car already have 1000+hp. It's just so embarrassing honestly.

@elianioriofarrell5 күн бұрын
Well weight is the main reason, and considering the weight of the current cars, their speed is very impressive and they have insane downforce vs the 2000s cars. As for the 2026 cars, they will be about 2 seconds slower than the 2024 cars, so about the same laptime as 2022. So probably by 2028, they will be close to how they are now.
