I have a S.O.G. tomahawk and I love it. I have a wrist lanyard at the end of the handle so I can retain it in an emergency. I'm with a Fire & Rescue squad and it makes an excellent breaching tool. I don't like mine razor sharp because the edge can be damaged easier. That's just my take on owning one of these great tools.

It needs to be shorter. The longer the easier it will be easier an opponent will be able to take it from you. Once shorter you need to attach a leather lanyard to the end to prevent an opponent from taking it from you. Secondly, in the event you decide youd like to be well trained in throwing it as a projectile, the way its designed now would be very difficult to throw correctly and accurately. Tomahawks are short because it gives them a tactical advantage that way. I highly recommend you KZbin a Tomahawk combat expert out of Austria that has a channel called Sami Combat School and Tomahawks are one of his specialties. Check him out if you are truly that serious for carrying a tomahawk as a self defense weapon.

You may be correct, I have never killed anyone which had died before my eyes with a tomahawk. I have had them used against me. This was my first tomahawk and my first attempt to learn to use the hawk that I got from another Marine that has killed with a tomahawk. Since making this video I have worked out, developed other handles and moves, and have had to pull it out numerous times for SD, but still haven't killed or injured anyone. I use to live in Guatemala. I have developed a total combat style based on my intense combat experience to the death with multiple individuals/engagements which were fully equipped or not. The handle length depends on the circumstances and the threat, I have a cane handle which converts into a hawk. Alternatively, leave the handle long or replace with a pickaxe handle and use like a cane. They call them shepards axes. Back in the day, a shepard had a lot of reasons to carry a small axe, self defense being one of them. There are a number of east European traditional dances based off axe fighting techniques. Many cane fighting techniques can also be adapted to a shepard axe. A spiked tip on the end of a can may not kill a man, but it can make them think twice...

A really nice piece, the reach you get with this is amazing. Only thing I would miss would be a spike on top (like a halberd), but that would make carrying it harder. And the attack from the draw was really nice btw.
@nostressmike10 жыл бұрын
The reach is what got my attention, here, I am faced with the possible machete and blade attacks. It is always hard for me to find humans to practice on. I will make more unlisted videos on this subject. I will make this unlisted in a few days. You can train but the proof is in the experience in which I hope I do not get. A spike on top would not work for me, I use my hawk as a cane and a stool when I am not getting use to its combat effectiveness. Mike

The head needs to be redesigned to facilitate some type wooden cover to disguise as a cane. Perhaps that one could be disguised as such. That would certainly lend to the surprise factor in your own version of shock and awe. I believe a cane with just the hammer disguised could be devastating. Thanks for sharing Mike

I can not show what I have done because this is the tool I am currently using. You have been keeping up with me, you know exactly how I work. Don't tell anyone. When I show my friends how it works for the first time they are scared and amazed. If I live through the first time I use it, it will become a primary weapon. I think it will work against firearms at a short distance, and multiple attackers for sure. I am learning to control it so well it surprises me. I use it in my morning exercise, which has put fun into my stretches. Mike
@not8upwthit10 жыл бұрын
Find someone that trains with Kali sticks and work some simple drills with them. I believe even you'd be surprised at what it'd do for you. It's kinda like driving down the highway for a while and taking an exit and driving 30 miles an hour. It seems to slow things down for you cause even someone at an intermediate level can make those sticks a blur.
@nostressmike10 жыл бұрын
Not8upwthit I've done stick fighting as a spot for a short time. I'm too old to play, that is why I like the lethal toys. I use muscle memory exercise to keep my body in shape and I do self-defense only.

I'm not sold on it yet. Here, when I don't have a firearm I do use the hawk for self-defense. Time will tell, but it does look promising. Mentally I have never left Vietnam. I can't count the number of violent acts that has been dumped on me since Vietnam. Mike

nostressmike There is a large part of me that says that my education in life could never be complete without taking a road trip with you. FlyingAxblade mighty; long, light, fast, painful, useful, and it talks. So far (3 weeks of workout) I believe once I master its use, I should be able to hold my own against all forms of weapons and odds. Limited use to firearms at a distance in the day light. My uses will be and not limited to; close quarters combat, self-defense, motivation (for me and others), and a camp tool. Mike

FlyingAxblade LOL - If you master it, it is a tool. If not it is a hobby. Many war tools I've attempted to master, I have many hobbies. I am making an unlisted video on how to make the hawk and other war tools talk.
