I loved this interview it was your best one yet. I lived in NYC for 5-years and could totally relate to what the professor said. The first thing that amazed me was exactly what he said. On one city block you can find a Mexican bakery, a Chinese market, a fresh seafood market, a flower shop, and just about everything imaginable is on one city block. Where I currently live I'd have to drive 90 miles to find an Asian market. The best salmon I've ever had was in NYC from a fresh fish market. I could actually taste the sea in it, it was so fresh. I'm a bit of a germaphobe so sleeping on used sheets would psychologically send me over the edge! lol In saying that, I'm very adaptable in terms of inconvenience. I don't feel that New Yorker's are unfriendly. It just appears that way because it's a large city. Tourists asked to take photos with me even though I was a tourist myself at the time when I first arrived. Lol As far as celebrities go, I don't remember seeing any in NYC, but if people are into seeing celebrities Palm Springs, Ca. is where it's at. Personally, I'm not into it. I used to run the other way but some would come up to me and try and talk. So I definitely recommend PS for celebrity stalkers. lol Anyway, it was a great show. This one was especially interesting!

The best traveller is the local traveller, the locomotive traveller... To travel is to travail... What's the Spanish (or indeed French) word for 'work' again??

Good interview. *Thanks* Seth is right on many points. One of my memorable places was Downtown Naha, Okinawa, wandering into a unexpected market place. No street signs or anything I would have been familiar with. Literally Culture Shock. Like stepping back in time two hundred years. Amusingly, I was the tallest person in a sea of humanity. Same for losing my way in a Moroccan cashbad except as it was closing thought I was gonna wind up like a goat hanging being drained of its blood. Always make an effort to communicate even if it's drawing pictograms people will reciprocate. Favorite You Tube travel blog is "Gabriel Traveler" with Wonderlust Gabriel Morris.

Look at his hands and fingers. They are so thick. They almost don't look human. His head is enormous for his body. He looks like a cave man who cleans up well.

I hope that guy is someone you actually know fairly well, because otherwise his answer at the end was really rough, and makes him look pretty bad to me.
