Hi, I would like to say that I love this "How does it grow" series. I think you're doing a great job and I feel quite inspired about the insight I get into these farmers practices and ways of upscaling. I grow most of these vegetables myself as a homestead farm/food forest and aim to find a way to upscale in an environmentally sustainable way. Please keep it up, so far the best episode for me was the Amalfi coast lemons one.

Great to see this, so many people don't know where their food comes from. PLUS they are showing Valley Farm Transport Tomato Tubs, I pulled those tubs from the fields of southern San Joaquin Valley and the northern fields of Yolo county to various canneries. Long days 7 days a week once things got rolling in harvest season, after tomatoes I hauled various grains until the end of season. Working for Valley Farm Transport was a great experience with a great company I got to go places in California I never knew existed and that's along list. Valley Farm Transport Truck (old#!) 32, 50 & 53 three seasons.

Another great episode Nicole. I never really thought about the cultivar difference between fresh tomatoes and tinned tomatoes. In England we have a tomato season from May to October where there are fresh, organic cherry and plum tomatoes available to buy. The rest of the year we have tinned because the imported tomatoes taste quite flavourless; clearly because they’ve been picked green. Food crops are fascinating and I’ll be learning al lot more about them now I’ve started my undergraduate degree course in plant science.

Again, it depends on if you're speaking about botanical or culinary classification. Botanically speaking, every part of an herbaceous plant that humans eat is considered a vegetable. For culinary purposes, it's all of that minus the stuff that's sweet. In the latter sense, no fruits would be vegetables.

I wanna say two things : 1. Love this content, love your energy that you put into it It’s a 10/10 for me. 2. In the back days The Andes is where the Incas called home in Peru and they “introduced” tomate to the Spaniards. Not the Aztecs which is Mexico... is further north. Cheers from Peru

Thanks for the great and informative content!!! Glad you chose the canning tomatoes. I do not usually like "fresh" tomatoes from the produce section
