I am in shock. There are tons of gardening videos on KZbin and very few recommend that people get their soil tested. Instead, they recommend you start putting all kinds of stuff in the soil assuming that will fix what ever the problem is. It is not unusual that bottom leaves turn yellow and he is correct in saying that tomato plants need space for air flow. This is a really good video because he talks about all the possible causes.

Probably the most excited I've been about people I've never met sharing connections and increasing their network power. You already know this is something that will increasingly make a big difference. God bless all of them.

Thank you this was very helpful. One of my tomatoes was turning yellow but it was just a cutting from the bigger tomato plant so I guess it just needed fertilizer and get established

I can’t believe that I can over water a tomato plant, (mine are in large pots, with a tray below- which I like to leave a little water in the base so they can drink , if need-be) I try to water them every second day, unless it extra hot day, but I guess that can considered excessive. Or they just need fertiliser… Big thanks for the great tips and advice.

Thanks for the video. I wasnt sure if my tomato plant is yellowing because it has been raining so much or it needs fertilizer. I think its both..lol.

Sounds about right, the rain can wash away some nutrients too

With focusing on new foliage, should the yellow leaves be cut?

Horrible season (rain) this year in MA. I grew a Black Krim for the first time. The plant was doing great. Many others had the yellow/spotting. All of a sudden the Krim looked as if it had not been watered. (I'm a container gardener) It may have gotten too dry and unable to recover. Some leaves are still OK. Just in case it is a soil borne disease I want to plant next year in a fabric bag and use new soil. What bagged soil/potting mix do you recommend for tomatoes???

I've got some peppers that seemed to stop growing when moved from seed cell to solo cup (with drains holes). Theyve turned yellow and it's been about 3 or 4 weeks with no visible growth or improvement 😢

Is the yellowing reversible, or do I just focus on the new growth?

It will stay yellow, but new foliage will be green once the issue is addressed

Okay, so I have started 4 tomato plants from seed. Both are indeterminate varieties. I started them in my greenhouse maybe a month ago in coco coir and some chicken compost fert in the coco coir. They've been doing kinda okay with growing, they are about 6-7 inches tall with true adult foliage, BUT, they are pretty darn pale green. I am not sure they are ready to transplant into the big pot I am going to grow them in yet though. I have HEARD that coco coir has a ph of about 6, SO, maybe the PH should be more acidic? Or maybe I need to add a bit of nitrogen, maybe some blood meal in a small amount? They are still in the small pots I used to start the seeds in, SO, I could maybe solve the whole problem once I transplant them in the big planters I have waiting for them? Really, I have already planted the tomato plants that are determinate, and were store bought, so, IF I KILL any of the seedlings I had grown from seed, it will be a learning experience. BUT, I still would LOVE to NOT kill them. Anyhow, I am wondering, is it a PH issue? Or a nitrogen issue? If I could go back in time, I'd have started them all in a peat based potting mix. Using the coco coir makes me wonder IF the PH is too alkaline for the tomato seedlings. I do have some gypsum, which is a calcium source that has sulfur in it, that I could use with the coco coir, and it will lower the ph, BUT, it may take a little while before it will lower the PH. Potting soil recipes using coco coir are REALLY hard to find. ALSO, coco coir can hold onto moisture longer than a peat based potting mix will, SO, maybe I am overwatering? If the surface seems to be dry, I'm out there watering the seedlings daily. Any help would be great.

One of my tomatoes (Kratky) started having lighter leaves (right on the cusp of yellowing) after I had just given it a new solution a few days earlier. I checked the EC and the reading was about 3.5 when I then checked the pH and it had shot up to 6.7. Would that be nutrient lockout and the problem? Everything is healthy looking but an entire branch of leaves about to yellow means something was wrong, so I chunked the solution to give it some 5.86 pH, and 3.6 EC.

Are the tomatoes touching soil? Try feeding it some bone meal fertilizer, and perhaps put a banana peel in a jar for a day and feeding that to the tomato, you got this
