Tomato Plant Silver Leaf Healing after Sun Damage

Thank you so much. Today I took my tomato plants out of the greenhouse and into the sun. Some of the leaves have gone a silver colour. Searched on KZbin for an answer and you're video popped up. Now I know what's the matter. Thanks once again. ❤

The leaves are still curling really badly and looks like some of the branches midway up are starting to get yellow at the tips too now. I haven’t fertilized but I did add a tiny bit of extra organic potting soil with compost in it. It’s on a pot on my apartment balcony and it’s only about 18” tall or so and it’s a love gourmansun sunrise beefsteak which is supposed to get like 8 feet tall. I’m not really sure it’s getting full sun though. Too many big trees around. I’m in central California only like 80’s still here atm. Any idea what could be wrong?

Is it too wet, too much water. They do like a lot of sun. Usually problem with yellowing is either too wet, too dry, or not enough light.

@@CaliforniaGardener Ty. I was only watering like once a week but now that the heat wave came I give it at least a little every day and seems happier. It is like 6ft tall now. Has a weird problem that most of the branches are growing straight downward but seem healthy.

@@AndyMatts yeah I've seen tomatoes in pots do that with the branches. It's like they're trying to support themselves.

@@CaliforniaGardener interesting. I put the cone cage thing around it but it’s not using it cuz it’s so skinny haha. I did stake it recently though cuz it’s way taller than the cage

That’s what mine look like, a little bit curly leaves and new growth seems nice and green but the older growth has silver-yellow patches on them. That’s sun damage? Seems to be growing fast still but I was trippin. I don’t have the beetle spots thankfully. The underside of the leaves look silver and kinda shiny and the top of the leaves are yellow. I did kinda transplant it in full sun right when the California weather started getting hot

Yeah if you did move them out into the sun on bright sun days it usually happens then. They will usually survive.

No problem
