I know you're not a big fan on green tomatoes. I just tried the Brad's Atomic Grape this year and I'm loving it. Normally I don't like tough skin but I don't mind it with this one. It's so beautiful cut up in salads! My husband thought it was a pickle! 😂

One variety I recommend is coyote cherry. Im going to be growing it for the first time this year and it’s extremely productive and has a unique flavor and is very sweet and is a favorite of people that have left reviews.

Greetings form southwest Ohio some 6A Another chatty tomato I was super disappointed in was Baker Creeks Black Strawberry cherry tomatoe. Much like Brads tomato it had zero flavor….
@elleon33542 жыл бұрын
@@timdwyer2718 I grew the black strawberry too. It wasn’t the best fresh tomato, but I liked it well enough dehydrated and pickled. Probably won’t grow it again though, there’s lots more varieties I want to try. My favorite of all tomatoes was Pineapple! So next year I’m starting a trial of all yellow/red bicolors to narrow down my favorite.

I felt the same about blueberry cherry. I was expecting it to be super sweet, instead it tastes like a basic cherry. My favorite was Brad's atomic grape & sunrise bumblebee. I also loved Barry's crazy cherry. Yellow pear splits so much for me, I love it but don't get to enjoy very many. Thank you for the review

Hi there. KZbin put this in my recommended so I gave it a watch. You remind me so much of a coworker of mine....and you are in Ohio, my home state (I live in Texas now, but I am a native Ohioan). It looks like you are closing in on the magic number of 1K subs so I added another one to your list. Looking forward to watching more.

I'm Columbus Ohio suburbs Have over 200 peppers and expect to pull about a dozen easily tomorrow early. From 24 bell peppers plants believe I'm having my best season and you know it's not the best season for lots of gardening in Ohio. Last fall a mixture of grass clipping and garden waste and leaves that I ran the my mulcher/ chipper laying 3 inches middle fall and at planting time after planting my seedlings top off with 2 inches compose from the professional business Gurbitch mulch company. I also catching rain and it's a benefit

On the Brad's Atomic Grape, I had one at a friend's house and it was amazing. The most complex flavor with a burst of tartness starting out, then morphing to this depth of sweetness. So I got a plant to grow at home. Mine were mealy, bland just not at all what I'd had before. I have no idea what happened. So, they CAN be good and a few of mine were but overall, I was seriously unimpressed.
@bloomandwiltgardens2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input on the Brad's. I wonder if the poor flavor we both experienced has to do with the soil conditions. I noticed in my garden last year I had several plants just not grow as well as I knew they could have and was likely lacking in some nutrients. That could impact the flavor profile. Perhaps it's worth trying again after amending the beds and doing a soil test.
@hellokimmy682 жыл бұрын
@@bloomandwiltgardens I don't know. I had grown Cherokee Purple and Brandywine on either side of my Brad's and they were great. I am doing a complete overhaul of all my beds this year though, and expanding by a lot. I may try it again. I dunno. Good luck, if you do! Oh - another note, they cracked like CRAZY. I lost so many because they were just completely busted open. Just a frustrating experience all around.
@BettyBoopBarnes2 жыл бұрын
I grew them for the first time this year. I found under-ripe ones to be as you both described. When they get really ripe and soft they have an under glow on the skin and the streaks turn bright red. Then they are so rich and tasty. Leave them on the vine or even countertop until they glow and almost mushy.
