I have found green zebra to be fairly mild, you have to pick at the right time to pick, they are great fried and for me quite prolific! Everyone’s taste buds are different!

Sounded like your green zebra wasn't ripe when you cut into it! Leaving it longer might have helped.

In Missouri zone 6 it can get very hot and very drive, kellogs breakfast did very well in the heat , continued to produce, was one of my favorite tomatoes in 2022

I just picked my first black strawberry tomatoes. The skin is tough but the flavor is the sweetest. I compared it to it to the stupice tomato I usually grow and it was worlds sweeter. Plenty of fiber in the skin, I suppose, but at the same time they were flawless, without any damage whatsoever. I don’t know what went wrong with yours?

I'm not sure what happened with the 1st batch of Black Strawberry tomatoes. However, I did another harvest recently and they were a much bigger size and tasted way less bitter. If I were to adjust the rating I would move it to a 3/5. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Lol..every variety grows and tastes differently in different growth regions. Being out of direct sun, shaded by excessive leaf growth, inhibits the color, size and taste. While amusing, these black strawberry tomats aren't even close to true ripe. And pesticides..why bother? A lot easier to prune/ support/ water correctly. Deer are not the reason for scabby, neglected, plants later in the season. Green zebras when ripe are sweet, fruity and mildly acidic with a slight tart lemon taste. Ripe being the key there. Either this nice fella doesn't understand, or doesn't have the patience to wait. Those were excessively pale and off colored BSs. Not nearly enough sun on fruit. He needs to run some mylar 'emergency' $store blankets behind them on the fence..easy, inexpensive fix. Then, try them both ripened.

I grew black strawberry last year and was not impressed. They bred this strain for color but ignored the taste. Good lesson to not trust the seed suppliers and their marketing schemes.

I would say it made me more skeptical for future varieties, Bakers Creek likes to say everything is their favorite on the catalog. Nevertheless, they do have some good choices as well.
