I need to know, I have watched so much backrooms stuff trying to get scared of it, but it just seems so boring. I don't know if I just don't get this type of horror or what but why is it so popular, it's not scary at all... And it's like as entertaining as watching paint dry. Thank god Tomato and Dave at least make it funny.

The monster Backrooms stuff isn't as interesting. They've forced so many things in there and especially more arbitrary things like almond water in that it detracts from what the core of the Backrooms was. You're in an area that goes on seemingly endlessly, all alone. After who knows how long of walking you hear a sound up ahead. Was that real or just your mind playing tricks? Would you even want it to be real? Basically Backrooms works better in two fashions. One, the less people the better. Two, the longer you're left alone to wander before anything happens the better. It's supposed to play off liminal spaces and that uneasy feeling you'd get from being inside a school at night, stuff like that. Filling it up with monsters, hallucination creatures, and all that makes it far more SCP and gets rid of that lonely aspect which is a big deal. Any scares in it should be rarer. Not a giant moth flying to kill you or creature running you down constantly.

The original backrooms were just evoking the feeling of an empty school, an abandoned hospital, spaces that we know well, but not like THIS and it causes a deep unsettlement. And the uncannyness of dreams. People adding monsters kind of missed the point. When you add monsters, the game is about the monsters and everything else becomes backdrop.
